The 2023 Audi SQ7 has undergone a significant change under the bonnet. The large SUV has been renowned for its mighty 4.0-litre twin-turbo diesel V8 with an electric compressor - but no more. That's right; the hard-hitting oiler is now unavailable and it's successor has big boots to fill.
But that might not be such a daunting challenge, given its replacement is another 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 - but this one runs on petrol and doesn't have electrical assistance. Either way, it delivers more power but less power, so it's a classic mixed bag, although owners are unlikely to care due to the performance on offer.
In this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Emily Agar and her family of three spend a week with the updated SQ7 to find out whether the SQ7 has improved with age, especially against newer rivals like the Mercedes-AMG GLS53 and BMW X7 M60i.
