That's what I was thinking. She was sleep disoriented when she gave her number over a phone. When she and her Mom woke up, the next morning, the Mom mentioned how sketchy that phone call was and they both checked her debit card online only to see that someone had stolen all of her money from her bank account. I read this very same warning somewhere that scammers call people in the middle of the night knowing that people are sleep disoriented at that time of night and tend to make stupid decisions like giving out their debit card information over the phone.

If possible don't use hotel phones at all use your cell phone if you have one. 4. When ordering take out pay in person rather than over the phone.

If there's a problem, we'll ask you to come down to the front desk to sort it out in person. even if they do ask for it over the phone, go to the front desk anyway. if you're staying with a reputable chain and they still try to kick you out for not saying it over the phone, report everything to corporate. most every (if not every) half decent chain has very specific policies on this that explicitly result in immediate termination of the employee in question.

Think I might have feel for this once but joke was on them when they tried to use the card, I have a no overspending limit and the card was already at $0, I use multiple cards, one for holding fee which is the main card, never more than $100 on it and then one that is a spending card, it does not get connected to my room account. After I found someone had my room holding card number (they tried to spend $500 on art supplies) I called the card company and they sent out a new card. Also another scam to be aware of is room service, people will some how convince the food service that they are staying in your room and when you go to check out you have a $200 room/food service bill....that was an annoying fight. What happens is they stake out your room, wait for the food person to come and run over before they can knock on the door and scammer will claim they are chilling in a friends room so they'll take the food there. Thankfully the person who brought the food to the room was on staff and was called to the front desk, after being informed that we were not the two people he gave the food to they looked over security cameras and finally found the correct people. 12 people were staying in the scammers room and they did it to others, an hour long wait to figure all this out and get it off our room bill, they even called the cops cause they didnt believe us at first....-_-
