I recently ran the SoM first adventure - "A Dance With Death". It was great - one of their best! Also, a shout out to Morten Greis who writes Vaesen adventures on DriveThruRPG. These stories have the quality and hooks of full free-league adventures.

Good review. I like the Scandinavian setting - it takes everyone out of their comfort zones and is less predictable. I bought Vaesen but I haven't yet run a game. I am torn between Scandinavia or, as I live near Stonehenge and many sites of mystery with lots of local folklore, running a campaign set in the UK ( but definitely NOT London!)

That's a very good point. I like the almost metaphysical distance that a Swedish setting can offer an English playing group. Mind you I would never want to play Rivers of London anywhere else than in that particularly strange city that is my home. Same string section different tunes. I have to say Jeff is getting very good at these reviews. I suspect the influence of a minor Cthulhu Mythos entity.

It's nice to have a horror game where the monsters have an agenda besides destroying humanity.

My missus is addicted to the Scandi noir series. 'The Bridge' is a particular favourite, so it would be quite interesting to move the Vaesen base 400 miles south to the old Cathedral city of Lund. You could do a pretty good twin location campaign using Durham or York in the UK and Lund in Sweden - with the boats from North Sea into the Skagerrak and on to Malmö. Thanks for keeping up the Vaesen coverage. Free League are becoming one of the best RPG publishers and usually bring us something distinctive and interesting.

Same sentiments here. Almost did the preorder, but now we're out of COVID lockdowns it's nice to have a reason and some money left for an outing to my FLGS!

My favorite game publisher covered by my most trustworthy reviewer? All week? Thanksgiving jumped ahead a month. Thanks for the care and attention Jeff!
