This. This is how all mats in competition need to be. That pit is PERFECT for grappling.

I've always wondered if the possibility for twisting your ankle is higher due to the likeliness of stepping on the wall while trying to balance yourself. That obviously can't happen on a flat surface and seems much more unlikely on a standard, upright wall. That being said, I don't ever recall seeing this being an issue in competitions I've seen in this type of pit. I do wonder if it hasn't happened simply because it hasn't happened or if it's an increased risk, or none at all. It's also interesting how takedowns could be scored on this type of wall. It seems logical that if a person's back was against this wall, they'd be much more susceptible to takedowns due to the wall supporting a large amount of their weight, making their feet light. Pulling an opponent's legs out from under them seems like it would be much easier than on a mat with no walls or even with a straight up wall. If point based grappling becomes popular in this type of pit, it makes me wonder if we'd begin to see, over time, competitors leveraging this wall to their advantage, i.e. dedication to pushing your opponent against the wall in order to pull the legs for points.

I think this really just showed that if there are no stalling penalties, Vagner is hard to beat because he is a master of disengagement and staying out of trouble. There are points in this match where Vagner is literally running away
@anonymousreviewer169

@@pninnan I agree and support your suggestion. In this match, however, due to the significant size and age gap between the two, despite Vagner's evasion tactics Luke should've been able to absolutely dominate, but alas, Vagner came out victorious. I normally would never celebrate such a win, but the above-mentioned factors certainly changed my tune for this specific match.

Seems to be the norm for New Wave is to juice to the gills and try to smother everyone before you run out of Gas. Gordon seems to be the only one with a good Gas tank because he doesn't have to work as hard against everyone

Pit looks great, wasn't crazy about the ruleset though. Also there was zero urgency from the ref and no stalling called at all. Other then that looks like it has potential.
@BenGuerriero

Ref's need to stay out of it. They should never decide the outcome of a match by constantly interfering. Blatant and continual stalling? Only then should the ref step in and give warnings.
