Ban Ganga:The first significant point where pilgrims can take a holy dip.
Charan Paduka: A place where the footprints of Mata Vaishno Devi are believed to be imprinted on a rock.
Adhkuwari: About halfway through the trek, this is where Mata Vaishno Devi is said to have meditated for nine months. Pilgrims often stop here for rest and darshan.
Facilities: The path is well-paved with plenty of amenities like food stalls, resting areas, and medical aid points. Ponies, palanquins, and battery-operated vehicles are available for those unable to walk.
Reaching the Bhawan
6. Bhawan: Upon reaching the Bhawan (main temple complex), pilgrims secure their belongings in lockers, take a refreshing bath, and wear clean clothes before proceeding for darshan.
7. Darshan: The main darshan involves paying homage to the holy cave where the deity resides in the form of three natural rock formations (Pindies) representing Maa Vaishno Devi, Maa Saraswati, and Maa Lakshmi.
8. Aarti and Prayers: Witnessing the aarti (ritual of light) and participating in prayers is a spiritually uplifting experience.
Return Journey
9. Bhairon Temple: After visiting the main shrine, many pilgrims proceed to the Bhairon Temple, another 1.5 kilometers uphill, as it is considered an important part of the pilgrimage.
10. Descent: The descent to Katra is typically quicker. Pilgrims often rest in Katra before continuing their journey back home.
