I could be wrong but in the low harmonies I think he edges even lower. It’s more of a rumble than a pure tone so it’s hard to tell, especially with the melody and high harmonies over it.
@janetdw

@@lkayh I think it’s the texture of the tone because I’m not sure that humans would be able to hear it if it was any lower😂. In Misty Mountains somebody pointed out he had used the same note 3 times but using three different techniques and they all sounded completely different. I know it’s early yet, but I’m waiting for John Deere Green or BJ Speck or one of those who really knows how to tell which not is which to let us know.

Fun fact: The Vikings were rapping centuries ago lol... they had verbal duels known as "flyting" which was simply the poetic exchange of comedic insults, which is essentially what a rap battle is. So you could say the Norsemen were the inventors of rap battles.

Layne is the beatbox, and he arranged this one. To my ear, when Layne arranges the pace and the rhythms chosen are stellar. Don't get me wrong - Geoff (the bass) does WONDERFUL arrangements and has incredibly tasty rhythmic choices... but this, to me, is classic Layne.

I've been down a rabbit hole of reactions to this, and I think yours was my favorite! Awesome, agree with everything you said, this was epic! Bass - Geoff (sounds like Jeff) Vocal percussion - Layne Guest/Rapper - J. None (a former VoicePlay member who left for the Navy) Rock Tenor - Eli (rhymes with jelly) Baritone - Ceasar

I’m not getting into comparisons-the original had to BE there for there to be a cover, so Gavin Dunne (@MiracleofSound) gets some credit for this version as well. But I do think this version would not have worked very well without the faster tempo. I’m trying to imagine it and in my head it sounds funny. I LOVELOVELOVE that they added in rap-genius move. Plus some techno and dubstep and-whatever else they thought of. Great reaction!!
