First Play Rules explanations/clarifications/mistakes: 1. @12:00 Used Annabelle Riggs for her ability (and didn't exhaust), and then used to thwart. Did not change outcome of game as threat was kept in check.

Thank you so much for doing this videos. I’m still pretty new to Marvel Champions but watching you play has drastically increased my comfort level, so much so that My wife and I now play “remote” with my sister and hopefully soon to be brother in law. We got them the base game for Christmas and now just do a Skype/FaceTime call and try to mimic the board with only one person drawing for the villain. Thanks again for the awesome content.

When you played Thor using the Bifrost it’s considered to be “from your hand” because you had to pay it’s cost first before you put it down. So yes, you played that correctly. 👍

@@DaletheCasualGamer The way I see it, you have to physically put that card in your hand before you play it. You search for it, you hold onto it in your hand and then you pay the cost to play it. The wording on the Bi Frost is ambiguous but I think it’s simply intended to imply that you cannot use the card you just summoned as a resource. Like you can’t search for the ally, put it in your hand, and then not play it and use it as a resource for something else. I feel like that is the spirit of what the card is trying to do. Very ambiguous wording though.

Your first solo test run against Rhino went much better than mine. I pulled Shadow of the Past on the first encounter card and ended up losing to threat shortly after. Enchantress has a nasty combo with her side scheme that put Valkyrie in a bind early on - she is just not good at managing threat. Playing with her alongside another hero was a blast though - can really see what she can do as far as damage output even with her starter deck. Thanks for keeping the content coming! Really enjoy the channel.

@Thunder Fuji I think Enchantress is the nastiest nemesis set out there. And people say Rhino is a push-over, but playing solo, no matter how hard you hit, threat is always a problem. I remember one of my first plays ever of this game I lost turn 1. I think I was Iron Man and didn't flip, and he double schemed. Wish I was recording that one! :) Lesson learned!

I spend all last night taking all of my card sleeves off of my marvel champions cards... I usually like using them but with deck building I find it too hard to manage to take cards in and out... I also have different sized sleeves and this is causing shuffling issues... just got mad and frustrated so took them all off.. and man oh man I have so much space in my boxes now... I can fit everything is the base box and 1 small expansion box instead of having like 3 or 4 boxes filled up... those sleeves take up so much room... I have this ordered... thanks for spending my money again...

Rhino - everyone’s most played hero. The big guy does work. Give him the power stones. The storage system I built on January 2 is again at capacity. Odd. You would think adding something with Ant in the title might be smaller. The managers rush to the mound waving rulebooks and an exegesis on Search. It felt like August at Fenway. I was rooting to see all three Thors out at the same time myself.

Rhino is a good start for any hero, and can be deadly with Charge or when scheming twice in a turn. Little Throg didn't hang on to see the others, but he fought well and with purpose. :)

Thanks for the video! I don't think using the Bifrost is an alter-ego action and just an action so I used it a ton when I played it. I think Valkyrie has a few cards that benefit from Death Glow being on the villain, but Rhiono's low henchman count makes Valkryie almost as bad of a matchup as Thor.

@David Ko Between taking down the first version of the villain for a benefit, or getting the benefit of an additional +1 ATK from her sword ... she's got nothing. Probably not a good decision, but sometimes you just want to make the villain glow. ;)

I don’t think the Bifrost counts as from hand. Look at the wording on Hawkeye’s Quiver vs. Make The Call. That being said it’s a casual game and you’re the casual gamer so do whatever is fun. :)

@Michael Wages Thanks for watching and the insight! The longer the game goes, the more unsure I get of the rules and timing of each situation. I don't know the right answer, but in order to play the game, I make a call. As in the game, I was unsure and rules definitely say under Play, Put into Play, "Cards are played from a players hand." But just last week I was making a ruling on "Rules as written" vs "Intent" ... and with this, I have no idea what the intent was. Sure would be nice if during all the play testing someone would say, "Hey, there's some ambiguity here. Maybe an update to the rules reference should be done." It's just an online document, shouldn't be that hard ... right? I mean, how did the designers play it while testing? :) Anyway, still absolutely love the game. :)

@@DaletheCasualGamer Me too! No rules ambiguity will stop me from playing it. I used to play X-Wing competitively, which at the time was also from FFG. Imagine trying to interpret some of those rules questions in a tournament setting! I’m just as likely wrong as I am right and I don’t care. It’s just a game :)
@DaletheCasualGamer

The only game I ever played competitively was VS System, but I also judged tournaments for VS System, Magic, YuGiOh, and Pokemon. I'll never do that again, and have no desire to ever get involved to that depth in rules lawyering. That sucked the fun out of everything! Because of all of that, I was very thoughtful when I chose "Casual Gamer". Yes I want to play by the rules, but not losing any sleep over mistakes or misinterpretations. Play, and have fun is my motto!! :)

also... you being a marvel champion expert.. I see you always turn your cards in to mulligan at the start... BUT let me throw this at you... WHY? you are just going to get more cards that you would be using to use to pay for resources... and half the time you don't get anything better in your draw anyways.. in this example... you drew flight of Valkyrie and smash the problem... you ended up discarding flight of Valkyrie and saving in your hand smash the problem (which you would of drawn anyways had you not mulliganed).. I have been keeping track of this for awhile now... and it seams like about 70% of the time the drawn cards don't do anything to help... to clarify... if you have a bad hand or worthless cards sure mulligan is fine.. but if you look at your hand and say -- I am playing (ally X which cost 3 and 1 support that cost 1) then your going to be using your other cards for resources anyways so why mulligan... all your doing is making you go through your deck faster anyways... hope I explained that well so you understand... I guess my point is that if your going to just be using your "other cards" as resources then why mulligan to draw more cards that you are going to spend as resources? You go through your deck faster and those cards you didn't draw are going to be there for your next turn.. Thoughts?
@DaletheCasualGamer

@idjester Valid question ... And after playing Star-Lord and Scarlet Witch, I'm not afraid of going through the deck. ;) Comes down to playing styles, and for me, especially with decks I'm familiar with, I'm trying to get to the cards I want most. While I have a play for a first turn, generally it can go better and I'm good with taking the risk for a better start. Getting an encounter card 1 turn earlier for taking a mulligan generally doesn't come back to haunt me.
@idjester
2 жыл бұрын
wow.. see my other post but to express my point for that other post... if you would not of mulliganed at that start then you would of beaten Rhino and not had to draw that other encounter card at the end... (sure this is a weird example as it worked out exactly how I would of planned it too) but that second encounter card really could of messed you up (its just Rhinos deck is so weak..) but I would of loved to see shadows of the past show up and that would of really proved my point about mulligan at the start... I think its a trick and a waste of cards to mulligan UNLESS you have a bad draw of cards that you can't use, or you get too many cards of one type or you draw no allies... then mulligan is fine... otherwise its a waste of precious cards that can come back to bite you in the butt...
@DaletheCasualGamer
2 жыл бұрын
Alternatively, not taking a mulligan and waiting an extra turn to get specific cards can cost you too. Going through the deck, also lets you get back to your big hitting cards again too. Some times I play conservatively, and sometimes you charge the Rhino, or whatever Villain is in his place. :) That's the great thing about most games, there are multiple ways to victory, and all those ways have pros and cons.
