Love your videos(Love-Love-Love- Las Vegas) and I grew up in an area of Oklahoma where the soil is just like the sand you picked up(time 12:03). Areas of Lincoln County, Oklahoma are red from all the iron oxidation...the soil, ponds, even Deep Fork River. Ponds and lakes are clear if they're spring fed and drinking water was from a drilled water well. As a kid playing in the creeks on my parent's farm I stained my clothes(whites) from the "red" water. I even remember white cars and trucks getting stained along the lower portion/half of the vehicle....waaaay back in the late 1960's-70's. Keep up the great videos...my wife and have enjoyed Valley of Fire and will go again.

And the sheep; we were thrilled when the herds made their appearances throughout the video! Yay! We love wildlife so much - that would have been the icing on the cake, as Paula put it, for sure! Again you beat me to another site, and produced a professional grade video on VOF that is superior to anything that I could produce. The color, the soothing voice over, the explanations, all top notch. The purple flower that you saw growing out of the rock was likely a Notch-leaf Phacelia. You were so lucky to be up close with the bighorn sheep. I have never seen one when out hiking in the area. You are one of the leading ambassadors for Las Vegas and the state. I will say it again...The Las Vegas chamber or convention center board should being paying you to represent them. Your work is far better than theirs. I just came back to mention, we just visited Valley of Fire on March 5th. Beautiful weather and hands down best views in this area. We were always visiting Red Rock and loving it, but this place tops it. The Petroglyphs were very interesting to see. The only down side was our trip home on the S15. We got rear ended hard by another car that crushed their front end. I pulled over expecting them to follow, but they ran. Hit and Run! We got the police involved and followed the car for several miles until HWP caught up with them. Thankfully, no injures.
