Pleasantly surprised to see Taylor Swift as your number 1, especially as I have it in my collection too (mine is unnumbered RSD2018 edition). Even though yours is open it will still be very valuable as you have a very low number on it. I like MJ too. Saw him in concert in UK back in 1988. He was awesome live! Cheers, Col.

I really enjoyed this. Keep it up. My most valuable LP is an album by Mike Selesia called Flavor. It was given to me by Mike himself back in the mid 70's. We both were musicians in the Monterey Bay area of California. Some of my musician friends played on this album. From what I understand it was a self-released album, not on any label, and only 100 copies were pressed. I was shocked to see what it is going for on Discogs. I know you are very busy, but if you get some time, look it up on Discogs to see the value. I look forward to your next video. Be safe.

You got me with the Barry Manilow! Haha! Funny story about that Van Halen balance... about 8 years ago I bought a storage unit full of records, most were junk, but I started going through a box that was buried in the bottom, first record I pulled out was a sealed copy of Balance, my heart sank, I pulled the box out and it was full of them. Great collection there Melinda. Love the Marvin Gaye box set it looks just superb. I have a number of valuable vinyl issues. I remember buying Paul McCartney Liverpool Oratorio vinyl box set which goes for 200 UK pounds now. I think I brought it for £20!!. I have the Sound and Vision 6 clear vinyl box set by David Bowie. It really is a thing of beauty. I have never played it as its still sealed. I payed less than £25 back in the 90s....its now worth £250!!! or about $300. Nice poster on the wall in back of you! I was nearly 16 years old when I had a 20th row orchestra seat for the matinee show (he did a matinee and evening show that day) at Madison Square Garden in Aug. 1972. On the bill with John were Roberta Flack, Stevie Wonder and Sha-Na- Na. I think an orchestra seat was $10. Interestingly, the month before, I saw the Rolling Stones at MSG, and Stevie Wonder opened for them, too. His lead guitarist for both shows was a 17 year old Ray Parker, Jr. who went on play with the band Raydio and eventually had solo hits with "The Other Woman" and "Ghostbusters". Now's how this for a 1972 summer of shows at Madison Square Garden? John Lennon in August. The Rolling Stones in July. Elvis Presley for his first NYC concert appearance in June and a Dion & The Belmonts Reunion at the smaller Felt Forum in May. I didn't get a chance to see Elvis or Dion, though.

Very nice. I didn't know that there was a Hotel California Mofi release...I will keep an eye out. I've actually had pretty bad luck with the 80s Mofi pressings lately. I picked up the King Crimson debut, Aqualung from Jethro Tull, and Revolver, from different sellers, and all 3 look mint, but are super noisy pressings. I know what you mean about the Taylor Swift. I did the same with a RSD Miley Cyrus, and they are going for over $300. I will say, being open or closed does not seem to effect the value as much as the quality. I know quite a few people who will not buy older records that have not been opened. I've personally paid for high dollar albums multiple time and opened them to find that they were badly warped. Hey Melinda. Can I make a suggestion for a video? Would you consider doing a “ranking” video of your favourite Van Halen albums? I thought about this, when you mentioned that “Balance” was your favourite. Van Halen is o r of my top favourite bands! I’d say that “For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge” is my favourite Sammy album. I’m a long time sub of your channel. Always enjoy the content. You have a really sweet disposition. Keep up the great work!

Really enjoyed this video. I catalog everything on Discogs, and I find it interesting to check in on the value every now again. Like you, though, I am buying records first and foremost to listen to. If they happen to be valuable, then that is a bonus! Here are my Top 10 as of today: 1. The Beatles - White Album (original 1968 mono pressing with fairly low number) 2. Nina Simone - I Put a Spell on You (1965 original stereo press, which seems to be quite rare) 3. De La Soul - 3 Feet High and Rising (Vinyl Me Please pressing from 2019 that is now out of print) 4. The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour (1971 German pressing that is highly sought after due to its sound quality) 5. The Budos Band - Long in the Tooth (2020 Vinyl Me Please pressing which I think has only sold once on Discogs for an inflated price) 6. The Flaming Lips - American Head (2020 release which came with a signed Wayne Coyne art print) 7. Chris Clark - Soul Sounds (Rare 1967 UK Motown release) 8. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Head On/Pill (Limited edition 12" coloured vinyl from 2020) 9. The Kinks - Face to Face (Rare UK mono original press) 10. Paul McCartney - McCartney III (Red vinyl) I find it really interesting how my list is a mix of releases from last year and releases from 50+ years ago!

It has always amazed me how some albums you think would be worth something but aren't. Then there's other albums that are worth a lot but I can't fathom why. Of the vinyl that I still own, my top 3 worth monetary wise: 01. AC/DC - Dirty Deeds (Aussie version, 2nd press; median $100, last sold for $136) 02. Deep Purple - Machine Head (2 LP 25th Anniversary Edition, purple vinyl; median $100, last sold $125) 03. AC/DC - T.N.T. (Aussie gatefold, red label with yellow print; median $77, last sold $98) Treasured, but not worth much: 01. Dokken - Dream Warriors 12" single 02. David Lee Roth - Sonrisa Salvaje (Eat Em And Smile album, but Dave sings in Spanish; promo copy) 03. Fastway - We Become One 12" single 04. Fastway - The World Waits For You 12" single 05. Dokken - We're Illegal 7" single (Carrere label) 06. Lords Of The New Church - Like A Virgin 7" picture disc

My most valuable single album is definitely surprising to me. It’s Motley Crue’s self-titled album from 1994, the album they recorded without Vince Neil. Most Crue fans probably don’t think much of it but I always liked the album. Probably about 15 years ago my local shop had it for under $10 and I got it just because I like it. Turns out they only released that album on vinyl in South Korea and Germany and it’s never been pressed again. Median value on it is $279 but copies in the condition mine is (looks unplayed) routinely sell for $300-350. Also surprising is that my third most valuable record is actually a 45 with a median value of $228!

The most valuable record in my collection is Madonna's Celebration 4 LP compilation from 2009. I paid $20 on clearance at Hot Topic of all places. I wish I would have bought the other copy there!! Median price is $375! Yikes! I'd sell it except that it is actually a great compilation of Madonna and we actually play it a couple times a year. Then I have the Charlie Brown Christmas 2 LP 45 RPM Analog Productions pressing at $202. My most valuable Box Set is the Beatles Mono Box followed by the first Blue Note Review box set "Peace Love and Fishing" a VG+ recently sold for $500. I with Blue Note would continue this series. I love them.

Hey Melinda! Some expensive records you got there. Really great you were able to pick up A Different Kind Of Truth even though it was expensive. I would imagine VH vinyl prices will be growing especially for the OG and Master Recordings. I still get sad thinking of all the great artists we have lost the past couple years. Tom Petty and Eddie Van Halen were big ones for me. I am not too surprised about the Kiss album selling for such a high price. Die hard Kiss fans are crazy lol I am surprised with the Swift records being so expensive but I guess she is a big deal these days. I would think for an artist being still in her prime and still alive that her records would be at an average cost. Would be interesting to see what they are worth 10 or 20 years from now. Your jukebox is looking nice. Looks like a jukebox from the 90's Have a great day

Until there are some reissues, the VH albums are going to stay expensive. I'm glad I already have them. You did help me buy A Different Kind of Truth with a gift card I received from you. 🤗 I still miss Petty but the loss of Eddie really hurts. I'm so sad that he isn't here to see his son get married or see his son with his own band. I'm shocked about the Swift records and I'm not that attached to them. I may sell them at some point. I think as her career cools down so will the price of these records. I think the jukebox was made in '69 but is considered a 1970 model. Take care.

Hello Melinda; The position you made according to "Discogs is correct". This company/org. is a data base for records. We will reserve our feelings on that. How much a record is worth is determined thru consumer response. We agree with the LP picks, as they are your favorites. Many in the vinyl community should be able to find at least ten LP's (hopefully) that they feel, or actually are valuable. Nice jukebox, like the Lennon One to One poster. This video would make a good informational thread video. Take care. Tina & Pat!~

Thank you so much! I have seen other people make similar videos. That is what made me look into my collection. I also realize that Discogs is just a tool to see what may be valuable in a collection. There are other ways to determine value that may be more accurate. I also think that sellers are often greedy on Discogs. I have bought a few hard to get records that way so I am thankful to have the option. I do love my jukebox. My nephew was getting rid of the Lennon poster and offered it to me. I'm am so glad he did. Have a great week.

You are correct that all copies of A Different Kind of Truth are on red wax. I've have heard that there were 3000 copies pressed. Also of note is that BG is in the deadwax so the lacquers were cut by Bernie Grundman. I was lucky to get mine about 3 years from my local store for $100. I pretty good friends with the owner and he basically gave it me for half market. It's been almost a $200+ album for several years now. I just recently ordered a UK unofficial of ADKOT and III. So the UK unofficial market has supplied us with copies of For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, Balance and now III and ADKOT. I seriously hope that all the Sam era stuff gets a proper reissue. Balance is screaming for a 2 album reissue that includes the instrumental Baluchiterim on it and perhaps even Humans Being from the Twister Soundtrack since it never found it's way on vinyl. Of Course they could just cut Best Of Vol 1 to wax and that way we would get it along with '96 DLR songs Me Wise Magic and Can't Get this Stuff. Anyways, VH is also my favorite band so I'm buying anything they make.......My personal VH vinyl collection including bootlegs is over 150 presses on it's way to 200 :)
