Wow...Simon I'm absolutely blown away by your performance of Eddie's Iconic/Legendary Live Without a Net Solo...I'm also blown away by the accuracy of your version...I saw in your video subscription that you are making a Guitar Pro transcription for the solo...I'm so glad you are doing this for I can't hear very well and my vision is hampered...I would never be able to transcribe that solo...For me this would be a blessing for I have always wanted to learn that solo...But couldn't find it anywhere...Thank you for your hard work.

Checkout what the great Pat Metheny said about Edward : Eddie is a great player and someone I always enjoy hearing. There was a time I went to VH shows as much as possible just to check him out. One time, I got to go back before a show and hear him warm up - which was absolutely mind blowing - he played more incredible music in that 30 minutes of warmup time than he did in the all the "VH shows" that I heard rolled together. He is so creative - it would be great to hear him expand into other areas - especially now that "heavy metal" is about as dead as it could possibly be (who would have thought that that would happen in 1984?) Eddie is more like a jazz guy anyway to me - he is always searching for sounds and ideas it seems.”

@@2216sammy Thank you Sammy :) I love Pat Metheny… and you’re exactly right, Eddie IS more like a jazz guy actually. I’m in the process of having a sax player friend of mine play some of his solos to prove the point.. so stand by. Thanks for taking the time to write. All the best, Simon :)

Fantastic Simon! I’m so glad you did this video with this focus. When I first transcribed this in 1997, there was just the video to go by…and what a gift it was. I saw the 5150 tour in October of 1986 when I was 14 and I was lucky enough to be no more than 5 feet away from Edward’s mic stand for the whole show. Seeing him play that solo and actually getting two picks from him and two from Michael Anthony really blew my mind. But it wasn’t until the summer of 1997 that I sat down to learn the piece. I have improved my understanding of a few of the parts in the years since, but I’ve sent that original handwritten transcription all over the world since around 2008 when I first got on the internet. It is a solo that fascinates so many and it is in my opinion one of the most fully realized and best executed versions of his live solo ever. You get a wonderful tone here…I recorded my 1997 version of it using my Fender Super Reverb on about 2 for the benefit of my neighbors with my old MXR Distortion + overdrive pedal and my late 70s EH Deluxe Memory Man for the delay. Now I have my Eventide H9 and my Rockstah Marshall to get much closer to the tone of the original version. I think you’ve done a marvelous job with the tone and the playing here…so great! Congrats on an excellent and well produced video!
@SimonHosford

Aww thank you so much Allen, that means so much coming from you :) And yes I agree with you, I think it's Ed's most realised solo also. I can't believe that you got to actually SEE Ed do this when you were 14 AND get picks!! Sooooo cool! Love your work brother 🤘
