I really feel for this man. People have to see it from his perspective. He raised someone involved in possibly the biggest murder in history. He's a respectful old man who just wants to have his daughter back. You have to walk in his shoes. This shouldn't be an argument about if she DESERVES to be released or not. You have to think of how this would personally affect you as a parent. Of course he wants his daughter back at his old age. His feelings are normal and the people who criticise him would probably act the same way as him if it was their daughter in this situation.

The other women off death row got parole, because maybe they just killed their husband. Their crimes were within the realms of the known, whereas the manson family killed strangers in the most gruesome way, for a "cause". Scary stuff, people just don't want them out on the streets ever again. The crimes were just too merciless. A pregnant woman begging for her baby's life as she was stabbed? When people say Leslie waited until Rosemary was dead and then stabbed her, they are misleading others about the “moderate” level of responsibility Leslie must take. Here is what they neglect to say. Leslie must take responsibility for what she did before Rosemary received any stab wounds. While Tex Watson was stabbing Leno with a bayonet in the living room, Leslie and Patricia were in the bedroom pushing themselves toward Rosemary while Rosemary swung a lamp at them, trying to keep the two female attackers at bay. Leslie could have helped Rosemary, but helped Patricia, instead. Then Tex Watson entered the bedroom, and Leslie made things easier for him, too. You are remiss if you neglect to mention this and if you focus on Rosemary being dead before Leslie wielded a knife.

Leslie clearly did not have the level of involvement as the others but she dug her own grave during the trial when she lied for Manson and refused to cooperate with his prosecution in any way. She showed zero remorse for her actions in the immediate aftermath of the crimes, after her arrest and during the trial. Keep in mind the entire Manson case rested on the testimony of Linda Kasabian. Had Leslie cooperated they would have had a conviction against him in 3 months instead of 9. Instead, she lied in an attempt to get him out altogether so he could kill again. More than the victim's family is harmed in these crimes. The role of Van Houten's parents was to help his daughter see the horrors of her crime and help her break away from good, old, and unrepentant Charlie. Blood is stronger than the law; however, show me a parent who actively teaches their child to commit crimes such as this. Van Houten may not have her freedom but she certainly has more than her victims have and although the father calls it politics justice must be served and justice demands that Van Houten only leaves prison in a coffin.

He is an old man and at his time of life he should not have to endure this BUT his daughter deprived other people of what he enjoys - a life. He will have to accet that his daughter will die in prison as her crimes are so horrible and still disgust people and new generations of people who read about these monstrous acts of murder, The graves of the victims is a continual reminder of the violence of their actions, No Parole - period!

i feel for her family, they have a legitimate point, that the reason they can't get out is purely political, no politician wants to be the one known for letting out one of the manson family, altho kasabian and steve grogan got out. nobody is interested in rehabilitation, at this point it's all vengeance. it's just something people will never forget, the callousness of their initial reactions, and the fact that there may be a number of other unsolved murders attributed to them...

Brainwashed or not she still helped murder . I know this video is really old but it's the 1st time I've seen it. It always amazes me when parents act as though their children aren't responsible for their actions. I understand being influenced by someone. I think we all have in some fashion. But Leslie was still responsible for what she did and deserves to sit her entire sentence.

Another narcissist. Prosecutors worked very hard on to put away these murderers. Only linda kasabian told the truth so she could get immunity. I love these lawyers who fight for the convicted muderers how about the victims who can't walk talk or have children like Sharon. They were robbed of their very life. Not much different from these bleeding heart liberals say.ing it's ok to kill 60 million babies in the womb. It's murder plain and simple.

@respond2cowards I agree with you. Everybody is the product of his/her upbringing. There are people who are born bad, but such kind of people are very, very rare. Most children are born innocent and are influenced in one way or the other by their parents. If a person has grown up in a caring and loving environment he/she will in most cases not become a killer.

If she had acted alone, she might well have been released by now. But she murdered in a group--Manson, Tex, Krenwinkel, and Van Houten. Her role was brief and she was somewhat halfhearted. But the result was two good people dead in their own home. Because of Leslie, they are never eligible for anything except more time underground.

Oh? so it's ok to let out murderers if the victim is not one of our family members, huh? The system is about JUSTICE. I don't care if she was spaced out on drugs or didn't apply the fatal blow, she participated and was found guilty of FELONY MURDER (1st degree if one dies while committing an inherently dangerous felony, in this case robbery or intent to murder), I'm an attorney familiar with the law. Moreover the victim pays with her life, these bastards are lucky to be able to live out life.

I do wonder about these people that have all these videos. Are they crazy juvenile Manson followers, that think the girls are so cool and think Manson is some type of God? Or are they actual human beings that realize murder is wrong especially murdering an eight and a half month pregnant woman and her friends as they get ready to go to home. It comes down to maturity - the older you get the more you realize what the Manson family did was wrong and they are not cool in any way. When you're young and juvenile, idiot's get wrapped up in their mystique. Which is a shame because Sharon and Jay and Abigail where the real hippies. Manson just wanted Fame at any cost.

All crime affects us. Apparently you think you are so powerful that you can individually do something about the fate of criminals. Hmm, tell me who are you? You're just expressing an opinion which advocates mercy for a brutal murderer while more expert officials believe otherwise. I happen to agree with them for reasons which I have explained. You call keeping murderers in jail "dirtywork"? Keep up the good NUMBNUT work.
