I second that! When I was 14 back in 2003, I was actually present when my grandmother had a stroke, so I know firsthand how scary of an experience that is for everybody involved. Thankfully, my grandma made it through that experience and lived for another additional 4 years before passing in 2007. Way to go, little brother! 👍❤

Great ending to a story that might not have had a good outcome. The boy is very articulate and polite, but I'm not sure he is a hero. The teacher asked him to go and get the school nurse and he did. The boy was following a request made by the teacher, nothing more, nothing less. But he still is a wonderful young man. All the best to Mrs. Moore for a full recovery.

I remember in the 2nd grade. My class was at the restrooms and we were told to stand in line and wait for everyone. The teacher was in the restroom getting the students out. We saw other children running down a concrete ramp to the playground. One boy fell face down and didn't move. His classmates stood around and looked at him and didn't do anything. Our class saw the boy fall and we obediently waited in line. But one girl from our classroom, Jennifer, she just bolted to get the nurse. She didn't ask anyone if she should go. She didn't tell anyone where she was going. She just took off running as fast as she could. The nurse came running. This was mid 1960's. They gave Jennifer an award in the auditorium for her quick thinking and saving that boy.

I’ve had minis strokes for 37 years. My parents took me to the hospital when I didn’t answer the phone from home. Paralyzed on the left side unable to speak and the nurse at the hospital made me walk with her to the MRI. I couldn’t and just leaned against a wall waiting for your to come back. MRI was clear. I have aphasia sometimes I have trouble speaking or writing and with so many mini strokes my short term memory is gone. I know how rough it can be. Shame no one helped me until it I was in a bad way.

Great job, Master Penny. My prayers are with you, Mrs. Moore. I teach CPR and First Aid - and have for close to 30 years. Everyone can learn how to help save a life. "Children" are smarter than we realize, and they can learn to recognise medical emergencies and learn how to get help quickly! As an EMT for 20 some odd years (now retired), I have seen so many young people help save parents, siblings, friends, teachers, ... EVERYONE should take a CPR and First Aid Class (every two years). As I always say - The question is not IF something is going to happen, rather WHEN is something going to happen - and What. Will You Be Prepared?

I don’t wanna be a downer, but I hate how you called a little boy hero. He didn’t sacrifice anything of himself to say the teacher. He didn’t have to weather a storm and walk for miles. He just got the nerves. And that’s good that he did it, but on a scale from 0 to 10 it doesn’t even make it to One. And wouldn’t the children that originally prompted the teacher to go get help first be the ones who deserve recognition?

I hate it when people say, "I don't want to be..." and then do or say whatever it is they "don't want to be". Bull! If you didn't want to be that you simply wouldn't be.
