For all those who usere looking at any of these videos that pertain to Van Life, I myself have lived in a van for a couple of years and even though I live in an apartment now, I still have my van and I love it and whenever I drive it I consider it my temporary home and it's very easy to take a shower while being in Van life, all you have to do is carry 5 jugs of water with you, 5 -1 gallon milk jugs of water with you, keep them in your van so it will be at Van warm temperature, whenever you need to take a shower just simply pullover where there's some Woods, get in your bathing suit run into the woods with a towel and two jugs of water pour one jug over you, soap down, use the other jug, pouring over you to wash it off, dry yourself off, get back into the van and you are good to go. why should you stop at a truck stop like I used to the first month and pay $300 by paying $12 a day for a shower ?you see I had to learn the hard way, I was just starting off, And other than that suggestion, if you're going to live in the same town or city for a year or more just join a gym for $35 a month and you can use a shower in the gym everyday.

I like how you use one countertop for a "sink", for a burner, for a table, rather than a dedicated area just for a built in sink, another for a stovetop, another for a table... And I like the idea of using a pressure sprayer for showers. Lots of great ideas here! Thank you!

The propane tank, the drinking water container and the pressurized sprayer can fit into one kmart plastic storage ben. For showering, I would do this inside the van by stepping into the empty storage ben. I had a lowered step floor inside the van by the curbside. I drilled a hole there..and the used shower water ran along the curb. Related idea... Use a coffee urn without the inside filter parts. pour heated water into it... The fauset of the urn is user friendly for showering. Once again, be inside the storage ben. If room is an issue, go partly inside the super large black trash bag.

home depot sells a gauge that shows you how much propane you have left--for about $12. Takes about 2-3 fill ups to prime it, but is well worth it to me. Really hated it when i ran out of propane at 2:AM in the dead of winter!

Thought I'd give you a little tip,The air horn is a good idear but try this.Mace is illegal in a lot of states but wasp and hornet spray (the kind that shoots a stream) is legal in all and works just as well. Also if you add a lighter to it it makes one hell of a flame thrower.Great cheap and legal if protection if needed.Love the van and hope to do the same soon.

Looks good .. One thing I should tell you .. Not knowing what the laws are in your area but up here you can not use Bear spray .. fact is its very hard to purchase .. But I person told me one time that the fog horn is quite good but to also purchase a can of wasp spray .. works as good as bear spray and it sprays/ squirts almost ten feet.. so there ya have it .. ( food for thought)

Just a tip on truck stop showers, if you stand around and ask drivers if they have a shower the can spare on their rewards card more than likely you will find someone who will give you one. May take a few try’s but it’s worth it. Some truck stops will charge 14 to 15 dollars for a shower.

2 gallons per shower? That's plenty! While camping, I found I could use two 2-liter bottles of water, warmed in the sun. One was sufficient to wash my waist-length hair, and the other was enough to rinse the bod off after soaping up.

same here, while testing water rations, it was very easy to shower with just 4 liters. 1 to wet, 3 to rinse. I could go with 3, but i only use 2 liter bottles

polly jetix have waist length hair too. I'd probably soak my head in a tub of water to wet it, then shampoo and rinse in same tub. Use same water to wash body while conditioner sitting in my hair, and then clean water to rinse conditioner out. Short hair would be so much easier. Cost of living here where I am trapped is prohibitive. Long story, had a house paid off before the housing bubble popped, but then life happened.

Insulate your sprayer with some REFLECTIX you can put hot water in your sprayer and it will stay warm. I also insulated my dish pan again the water will stay warmer I also made a lid for my portable dish pan I can pour hot water in the pan cover and cook when I am done the water is still warm. I have a 4 gallon back pack sprayer that I bought for $50 it has pressure gauge and you can put it on your back and spray yourself if pressure goes down just pump it up some more. Don't get your back clean with the pack on but guess that should be last ? I use to shower like that in truck stop parking lots When on the road PLFT is the way to go for under $25 a month you get all the showers you want. Get a kettle to heat water I will be living out of a prius so I have the extra battery power of the car so I probably will use the inverter and electric kettle to heat water. Takes about 6 minutes for 1.7 liters to boil. Add that to a gallon of water should be more than warm enough to shower while getting a shower you are heating the another kettle if you need it you got it if you don't then store the hot water in a thermos if cold fill a hot water bottle and warm your bed. Wasp spray is said to be best to ward off criminals. I use to carry a can of easy off oven spray you spray that on somebody it will blind them the least if it gets in their lungs it could kill them, You get the one that has a nozzle you can tell what direction it goes and you own them. I made a video of some of the preps I have to carry with. A clothes spinner so I can wash my own clothes by hand then spin dry if you spin them good enough they need very little hanger time.

The air horn is great but you need other options. Bear spray works really good but there is nothing like a 12 gauge for a last resort. I am a gun enthusiast so I have many different kinds for certain situations but its hard to beat a shotgun for close range middle of the night bad encounters. Check your state and county fire arm laws to be legal . Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6 . Just subscribed, great content , very informative. Be safe brother.

I built a pressure shower exactly like yours.. except I didn't use the same fitting. I used a fitting that's barded on both ends.. and cut both the pump sprayer tube.. and the sink sprayer tube.. and attached them together with the double ended barb fitting. That way I was able to make the total length of the hose to my liking. Its an excellent design tho. My only regret is that I used a 2 gallon sprayer and should have used a 3 gallon. I may eventually get a 3 gallon tho.. since they're fairly inexpensive. Cheers...

I saw a 50 gallon tote that you wold easily fit inside. All you need is a Hula hoop and a shower curtain Good thing about using the 50 gallon rubber made tote from Walmart is you can make a hose for your tote that will run through a filter and into a lower 5 gallon bucket and you have the water for washing clothes. I got a clothes spinner and a 175 watt inverter I can sling the water out the clothes as I rinse and I can spin them a final time after a soak in clean water I can hang to dry and boom I got my clothes ready to go. I startled a guy with my 22 LR he saw that barrel and did an about face good thing I did not want to shoot him. That 50 gallon tote can be sued to contain a lot of stuff not like it would be just a shower or a tub but it would be much more than that.

Dr Bronner's soap 4EVA! This is such a good expenditure for small space, minimalist living. You can clean anything with that stuff. Re: your shower setup, you can also perhaps open your van door (side door or maybe the back end) giving you privacy on at least 2 sides and tarp off the opening with a raincoat or tarp or something...paired with proper campsite selection and choosing the right time of day...then you can strip down for a proper shower.
