"And the inside jukebox roars out just like thunder" -- Fire! Listen to the drums. The drummer is cookin hard. The horns pick up to take over for the guitar while the guitar fills in a solo and the drummer signals the change up with a few snare hits before the shift. Prime seventies.

One of the best tunes from Van Morrison. An incredibly talented man.

Van has so much soul. It’s amazing how UK teens growing up in the 50s were so heavily influenced by American R&B, blues,Jazz, country and gospel. Then in the 60s they came to The U.S. and sold American music back to the teenage record buyers of the 60s and 70s when they made it big as rock stars. Perfect examples would be The Stones, Led Zeppelin, Van Morrison, Jeff Beck, The Yardbirds and Eric Clapton just to list a few of so, so many. The American influence is so heavily present in Van Morrison’s music. The horn section especially, just phenomenal!!! Those little British kids listening to their radio late into the night were surely playing close attention to those broadcasts. It was a recipe that produced some of the greatest artists of all time!

Van really is "The Man." He started his career at age 17, sixty years ago in 1965 with his Band "Them." They had the hit song "Gloria."

For your next song by Van, I recommend either "Young Lovers Do" or "Madame George", both of which are from the Astral Weeks album. The former is more catchy, the latter more complex and sophisticated, but they're both great.

We did, and still do, dress up for each other, but for me and my friends, it was to get and give each other compliments, not to shit on each other. And, of course, we wanted to look good for the guys too.

Lots of options but I'd consider these on the must listen too list , "Madame George", " Astral Weeks", " Streets of Arklow", " Bulbs", and the vastly overlooked "And The Healing Has Begun". Eventually you have to get to "Caledonia Soul Music". If aliens came down from space and ask me to describe Van Morrison's music, I'd hand them "Caledonia Soul Music", put on some good headphones & turn down the lights. Make sure you listen to the high quality version.

Was just looking, you've done a lot of Van Morrison. Most of the classics. How about the relatively lesser known (but still bangers) "Bulbs" "St Dominic's Preview" or "Redwood Tree"?

My ex was getting on me about having my sneakers. She said “How could you spend $200 on those?” I said “I don’t know, how could you spend $800 on a purse?” Yeah, the women are more competing with each other than trying to impress men. Absolutely. 🖖🏼
