The Van Neistat Repair Booth is not just a repair booth, it is also an art installation with Van doing performance art. Things repaired also became art pieces.

I will say, since watching these videos, and realising that fixing something is perfectly-imperfect it often has unique character. I find myself fixing a host of things around me now. Also sincebwatching Casey, I have been building up a stock of materials needed often to fix such things.

Dream came true and I got to meet Van in Austin. My pencil holder harkens back to the late 1990s when I was hired for my first full-time job building a website / CMS for Trailer World in Bowling Green, KY. I ended up designing and aluminum race car trailers and sold them all over the world. The pencil holder is from the same stock we'd use. Seemed fitting to bring that along with the aluminum car! Thanks Van!

This reminds me of this bike coop I worked at in college called the "bike barn." We did everything at-cost (changing a tube was $9, unless we had a working one around, etc.), with money donated beyond that going to charity. We would open and I would fix college kids' commuter/ old bikes for 3-4 hours straight. So fun.
