Great build for a 2016. The space is small. I know because I am building a 2016 Ford Transit connect. All my electric is off a JACKERY 880 1000w. 200 watt portable solar panels. With such small space, I have a ladder rack on top for a 20cf enclosed waterproof cargo carrier. MAXXFAN 7500k, then on the end over the back doors a WATERPROOF box with a TANKLESS water heater, pump and 5lb propane tank to take showers. On the back of the van when you open the doors, I have a kitchen, with sink and faucet going all the way across 20 inches deep. It has everything you need to cook including plates, utensils, fresh water, grey water, battery operated faucet. On the back side of the kitchen inside the van is a couch that folds out to a bed, all the way to the back of the driver's seat. I took out the passenger seat for my German Shepherd service Dog Archer. I have a space under the kitchen accessible only from inside for my guitar. I have enough room by drivers sliding door for my ICECO GO20 refrigerator/freezer and JACKERY EXPLORER. I carpeted the walls, and ceiling with a oriental rug on floor. The entire van has sound deadening insulation. I made 2 WINDOW covers out of the insulation like you did. I wrote all this because it is the exact van as you had. I would be interested in what you sold it for, and the miles, because I may do what you did. Sell mine, and build a larger van. It has taken me 3 months to build and almost done. I also made a fairing in front of ladder rack, 30 inch LED lights on roof in front, and 8'x8' awning on drivers side. I am on Facebook under Dave Halejr if you want to see pictures. It was great to watch your videos having the same van. Maybe if you see my pictures it can give you an idea or two. I may do a KZitem video when I am finished. Message me on Facebook for the info on your van, if you would. I would really appreciate it. I am a disabled veteran with like I said a German Shepherd service Dog Archer. We plan to travel the whole country. Just not sure yet if this 2016 will be big enough. Take care and God Bless. Hope to hear from you. David and Archer

Nice build. The only thing I would change is the panels on the roof. That seems rather overkill for just solar panels. I would either get rid of the deck (to remove weight and air resistance) or put the panels on some kind of slider so you could use the deck for its original purpose. And the panels would become a kind of small awning.

@@marciawithey5211 Me? No. Not full time anyway. I do live out of it on road trips though. Usually only 1 to 2 weeks at a time. The max so far was 30 days. I have a diesel heater in mine so I do winter trips sometimes also. Also have the standard solar setup (160w), compressor fridge/cooler, lights, fans, etc. However, since I don't live out of it full time I have it set up so I can remove/load almost everything from the inside in about 10 minutes... including the floor. Once everything is removed I can use it like you would a standard cargo van. Btw, half of the stuff in my van are things I already had. Like the removable floor is just a large rug wrapped around a piece of plywood... both I had in storage. The sofa/bed is my coffee table. The bed cushions are from my couch. Plus, misc other stuff like that.

Hi. I'm guessing I heard this is a 2015 Ford Transit connect? I have a 2016 so this made me very interested. As you know, we don't have much room to work with. I bought a DISC-O-BED. It is 2 cots on top of each other. I can keep them stored in 2 bags while traveling. I have a new JACKERY EXPLORER 880, and ICECO GO20 refrigerator/freezer. I am bidding on a 200 watt foldable solar panel. I love how you get into the floor where the back seats would of been. I was thinking of putting batteries and 2000 watt converter there. I would charge off the van and maybe 1-100 watt panel on roof. I have a $1000. Ladder rack left by the former owner on the roof. I am shopping for a fan. No windows in the van. I have a German Shepherd service Dog Archer. I would like one window in the sliding door that can open for him. I want to put cedar on roof and sides, with floor like yours. I am 65. Disabled veteran going to travel, play guitar and sing gospel songs where ever anyone wants to listen. Just enjoy life and meet people like you along the way. Thank you for doing your video. It helps to inspire. If you have any suggestions please contact me. I have the van, I am buying what I think I will need, I haven't made a definite design yet. I have been down sizing and selling everything I don't need for 4 months now. I want to launch in February 2022. Buy land in Arizona or some other state out west. Just a home base address. I need to check your other videos, but would you do a video of a more detailed look at how the bed is built? I really like your water system too. Especially that closed grey water! Did it do ok with smells? Does the hose hang down, so there is a kind of pocket of water that acts like an air lock? Many good ideas there :-) And I like your ceiling and countertop! Lots to like, best, Lynne

Thank you for stopping by! I can't take all the credit I'm afraid. I first saw the design on Christina and Daniel channel (formally Small Van Big World: kzitem.info/rock/Ot59L3qZWNKPy3FGv9bx2Q?view_as=subscriber). I'll try and make a more detail video highlighting the details in the near future! As far the grey water tank, I usually add a Grey Water Deodorizer which keeps it from smelling. I would do a less thick ceiling if I were to do it again. Just so I could be more head room.
@lynneeie5226
2 жыл бұрын
@@alainmaven Thank you! Good to know re head height. I will check out the other channel too. We live in Norway, so insulation is going to be our friend, but it is a small space and I am hoping with two of us and a tiny 12 volt coupé warmer that we will be ok. I saw some folks in VT who slept in their van in the snow... so perhaps going lighter on the ceiling for headroom will be ok. I mostly want to prevent condensation and future rust issues. Thank you, Alain and best wishes with the build! 😊
