We look forward to going back…but now would be disappointed if we didn’t get a lakefront spot!

Just found your guys’ channel - great job on the videos! My wife and I really enjoy watching. We are from the Vancouver area, as well, so are getting some camping ideas from you 🏕️

We really enjoyed both, but would have loved to have spent a few days at Loveland Bay! So nice. And once you are north of Campbell River everything feels so remote and wild…we love it.

Nice trip. Both campgrounds looked great. I would like to see some of the more remote free sites someday. Finch is looking like a seasoned traveler now, even though he didn’t appreciate the bumpy roads.

Yes, Finch seems to enjoy the van, though not too keen on busy places or traffic (like Gordon). We visited some of the other sites in our trips a few years ago if of interest. It sounds like some are changing; becoming better managed with more basic services and thus a fee.

Hi. I’m a new follower. Love your videos. We are headed to Vancouver in our van next year. Question: I’ve never cooked tofu before. How do you season and cook? Thanks!
@hikenrv
11 ай бұрын
Thank you for your kind feedback! I (Miki) often use smoked tofu for camping as it’s already cooked and seasoned so doesn’t need preparation. It can be sliced and used in sandwiches or pan fried with a little oil. For block tofu (firm or extra firm), I usually pat dry, slice, season with garlic powder, salt, pepper, paprika and Old Bay seasoning, then pan fry in oil a few minutes per side. You can also marinate the tofu and pan fry. A simple marinade can be made with soy sauce, garlic powder, maple syrup, rice vinegar and sesame oil. There are lots of great tofu recipes by vegan cooks on KZitem. A couple of channels you may want to check out are Yeung Man Cooking and Cheap Lazy Vegan. Happy cooking!

It’s actually a packraft from Alpacka. An Explorer 42 (sadly discontinued).

@@touristiqueducanada346 would say we ❤️the Alpacka Explorer 42 that we have. For 1 and a bit of gear it is great and can work for us for short trips when we are both in the boat. Would seriously consider either the new Scout or maybe the Caribou though for just 1 (at least for flat water/lakes) Both pack a little smaller and weigh a bit less (total just under 4 lbs and 6lbs if we recall correctly). Our friend Henry Wang has two Kokopelli’s that he quite likes…models tend to be a little heavier, but a little less expensive.

We have not explored that part of Vancouver Island. It looks beautiful. We were in Chaco Canyon again recently and the road in there is so rough.. My door on our Dodge Caravan is not locking properly since. It is an an amazing place though. It is UNESCO heritage site. Do not like MICE. Nancy

Haha, we don’t like Mice either. We actually had another on the last night. Finch spots them, we trap them. Driving north of Campbell River is wonderful…it reminds us very much of northern BC in terms of feeling remote. Gordon has been to Chaco Canyon, but many years ago. Beautiful!
