This was such a great interview. You really did your homework and got so much out of Vanessa. Good job! It's a shame she looks back on her first three records the way she does but totally understandable. "Miner's Canary" is arguably the hardest song V has written but it's the highlight of the album for me.

She really has grown into an amazing artist. I had her first album, it was good but IMO not great, so I kinda forgot about her after that. Recently I rediscovered her (through Vice's A Thousand Miles doc) and was amazed by the music she makes now. I'm glad she's found a way to be unapologetically her as an artist, and it really shows.

the fact that she seems to regret heroes and thieves is a stab in my heart, that was like all I heard for a year, when it came out
