Have had one of these for a while now this video helped me decide to take a chance so thank you for posting, one thing I notice and I wish you had control over was how touch sensitive the keys are sometimes you just brush against them and it activates the keys when you don't want them too especially the two at the back I'd prefer buttons tbh but not a massive issue if you're careful with your finger placements. But yeah all in all a great little addition to my music gear and I use it often especially as you can just plug headphones in so convenient, for under £100 well worth it and works well as a Midi controller too though you do loose the pressure control so it's just on off like a keyboard etc.

From a recorder player (who wants to practice without disturbing others) point of view, I can't recommend this instrument. The recorder sound is awful. and the way to play sharp, flats and octaves is different. For this purpose, I find that the Blackstar Carry On digital recorder is much better. It is identical to a recorder, you play sharps flats and octaves the same way, the recorder sound is so much better than the Vangoa, and its built in speaker has much more volume.

Stef Haynes also released a video for this instrument. It seems like a nice complement to this video. Mr. Haynes demonstrates that this instrument can also be plugged directly into a computer using the included USB cable to control software based instruments. There does seem to be any latency using that approach.

I bought the Chinese version of this musical instrument, same hardware but different firmware; among the available sounds the violin and harmonica are missing, replaced by two oriental musical instruments: hulusi and suona. The sound coming out of the headphone/speaker jack is too loud and distorted. To correct this, you need to set the volume to level 1-2, not higher. This way you can connect it to an amplifier, greatly improving the sound quality, since the small internal speaker cannot play optimally. But what makes the difference between this and other similar instruments is the MIDI connection via USB cable. Simply perfect! No delay (performance impossible to achieve with Bluetooth) and the ability to play any kind of instrument by connecting this digital saxophone to the various music software available on a PC or tablet (I use a Samsung S2 with Android system). This way there is no distortion because the sound comes out of the PC/tablet and not the instrument, so it can be amplified without any problems. I, for example, bought a small portable amplifier (Donner 5W electric guitar amplifier), the result is really satisfactory.

That C# in flute mode is disappointing. In sax mode, all pads open should produce C#, but from what you said, that yields a Cnat in flute mode. I imagine you could also get it by using the octave key and going to the D and flatting with a pinky key, but either way it's klunky for Irish trad music. I think I'd probably use sax mode, IF...and you didn't get into this, but are there also cross fingerings? On a sax, you'd play F# by covering 1, 2, 3, and 5. Does that work on this thing. Also, on a sax you can get Bb by covering just 1 and 4. Although you mentioned you can use your breath to get vibrato, I don't really see how that works, since it appears you can't turn the built-in vibrato off. This, and the inability to bend notes at all, is a deal-breaker for me. I don't mind synth vibrato if they'd give you at least some control over it, but apparently they don't. And even the Warbl has proximity sensing to offer some kind of note bending. This instrument looks very similar to the Roland mini, with pretty much the same limitations.

I play flute and sax, since our breath has moisture in it, the instruments get wet on the inside. So, after playing my instruments I spend a few minutes with a rag to dry it out. This is especially important to extend the life of the pads. Although this instrument has no pads, I would imagine over time it may get nasty inside and be susceptible to mold. Does this instrument have a way to clean the inside?
