It happens so fast that you don’t notice it really. It drives so straight now it’s easier to drive this meet at 157mph than it was the first time out going 110 to the 1/8th.

@Dspita
2 жыл бұрын
@@BroomysGarage Yeah you definitely want separation with a radial. I was at the track and did a PB at 3:30, it was stinking hot. Yours looked like it was hitting the tyre too hard. It either needs less anti squat or increased shock rebound to slow the separation speed. If you haven't already seen them Turbo John has some fantastic videos on antisquat setup. But you're definitely getting there in leaps and bounds mate, congrats!!

Yeah I’ll go over it later this week in my other video. Essentially it was set up on the extreme side to make sure it would not bind up. Now we know it all moves freely the bottom bar will go down a hole, top bar up a hole, bit more comp on the shocks and a 7” rod and that should be a good starting point to start some shock tuning. We didn’t touch the shocks or the bars on the weekend.

@@BroomysGarage Ended up with 9.83@139, i had the white R31. It was my first time on a 275 pro radial. I actually think the tyre was a bit tall for my gearing but god damn they hook up, 1.47 60ft. Was leaving at 5400rpm and 18psi!!

The bar angles were overly aggressive to make sure it did this. It did, so now we tame it back down again. Only had 4.3” of rebound travel in the shocks so it topped that out and will put some longer ones in as well

Do you think HRP need to prep the track as the day goes on?… looks like going under 9’s isn’t fun… so much work… I love driving to the track swap tyres run a 10 and go home
@BroomysGarage
2 жыл бұрын
It’s a test and tune, so hard to invest the money, especially when it is every single week, but more importantly the time to constantly prep a track would mean stopping racing for 30 odd minutes a few times through the day. A major issue for track prep with test and tunes is there will be a lot of cars with standard street tyres on. These tyres actually pull up the racing surface and ruin it. Even more so if old mate in his 13 second xr6 turbo/ve commodore decides to put his 350hp on display and do a useless burnout to the xmas tree. If the track had been prepped for 30 mins just prior to something like that, then all that hard work is now almost useless. When it’s hot, there isn’t much that can be done anyway. Heathcote do well however steering the ‘slow’ cars to the right lane, which means the left stays better for longer.
@ryanlowe3588

@@BroomysGarage this is gunna sound stupid but are you not meant to do a burnout past the tree?… I’m 450kw and run drag radials and thought you meant to?… if I’m not I’ll cut it out
@BroomysGarage
2 жыл бұрын
No one needs to do a massive burnout. Maybe if you have a big tyre slicks. That’s about it. Standard street tyres a huge burnout won’t do anything really for them except ruin the track. Drag radials you barely need a burnout after the first one of the day. Big burnout on a radial actually makes them work worse. My first burnout of the day I am normally on it to about where the starter stands. Every burnout after that is only 3-4 meters out of the water box and that’s it. Anything more on a radial and you are wasting tyre and over heating it. The problem with the lower power street tyre guys is they are doing these burnouts in slow motion with the foot on the brake crawling out of the water box and slowly going over the start line and it just pulls up the surface. Cars with horsepower are just rolling out of the water box at speed turning the tyre which lays down a nice layer of rubber.
@BroomysGarage
2 жыл бұрын
At other race tracks if you do a burnout past the tree you will get an official warning. Do it twice and you will be banned for the rest of the day. If a burnout past the tree works for your car then go for it, but unlikely unless it’s a big slick tyre car with big hp it will be of any benefit. Understand guys want to do cool burnouts etc, but if you have to have your foot on the brake to do it once you have left the water box, then you need to head over to the burnout arena…
