I have the Bluetti AC200Max and I love it. I'm getting a DC inverter installed so I can charge it as I drive. I don't have solar. I have a lot of electrical appliances including a refrigerator and an oxygen concentrator. Because of the oxygen, I can't have anything with an open flame or runs on gas or propane. I even found a 700 watt hair dryer that works great.

Good on you, that DC-DC charger is a game changer. I have a 20amp DC-DC charger and it keeps my Lithium charged at 100% all the time. I also have two 200watt semi flexible solar panels that live under my bed frame. I glued earth magnets to them and mount them on the roof, only if I’m camped for more than 2-3 days. Otherwise the charger does a superb job keeping my battery charged. Safe travels!

When I first saw that you were gonna talk about electric on this video, I was like, I can’t retain it other times from other people so why should I bother? But you proved me wrong because you just explained it like a regular person, not necessarily in electricians terminologies😊.. so I appreciate you going there and I’m glad I was brave enough to just listen once again about electric set up. I simply have an inverter that plugs into my cigarette lighter, which allows me to charge my phone or a battery charger and pretty much that’s the only thing I have challenged it with.. I think I will look up how much can a cigarette lighter handle as far as watts. I certainly don’t need to blow mine. lol

Love your setup Lulu , don’t know if you are aware of them or if it would even work for you or rather serve you well 😉 but they have electrical outlet extension cord boxes that you can just cut a hole and then drop the regular looking outlet into like your countertop and run the cord just like your exstention cord you have. I ran one in my truck through a wooden box I built over my wheel well that was useable from my tail gate but plugged into my power supply in the front of my truck bed.

Great video. I found you a few years ago on one of your women's group "favorite gadget" videos. Glad I was able to reconnect with your channel. Two thoughts, does the Battle Born batteries need to be vented like Deep Cycle (lead acid) batteries do? Also, caution in putting the batteries under the vehicle. This could be problematic when going over speed bumps or rough terrain. I wish I had a reliable installer on the West coast, like you. have on the East coast. The good news is I'm a couple hours away from Battle Born and they do offer seminars. Thanks for all of the work you put into sharing your camping experience with us ladies. You bring a lot to us women who like to get out and explore the world.

Thank you. It's an expensive process if you're learning as you go and my brain balks at watts, volts, amps, etc. but it's getting there. My process (and system) has been similar to yours, but not so far as to add a roof panel yet because I don't have racks and the cost of installing them is more than I want to put into the van permanently just yet. Unsure about gluing them down, but might get there. An advantage of the portable panels is that I can park in the shade and run cable to the sun, because, like yours, my bigger unit (Anker Solex C-1000) is too big for me to move regularly, but my original Bluetti 3BA, which fits right between the front seats can power the basics like phone, lights, fans, fridge for a limited time. It charges fast when driving, too. I need to understand more about the DC charger you had added, so watching again. 🙃
@jeaniekrieger6619
Ай бұрын
I was going to add this as a separate comment, but am replying to yours because it's on topic. I believe a DC to DC charger is the game changer because the car runs on DC power. Solar chargers (bluetti, anker) also save the power in DC form. Then, they have an internal inverter that converts power to a household 110 outlet. When you charge the Bluetti using the same power current, it is much more efficient. The alternative would be to go from car (DC), invert to AC and charge the Bluetti, which gives a loss of power in the flow because of the conversion process.

This is so interesting, Lulu! Curious, how much do you estimate the cost of van living is from day to day, including food, water, hidden costs, and travel fuel?
@LulusWay64
Ай бұрын
it varies so much, for myself and for me in comparison to others. it's a hard question to answer. I shop at Whole Foods and pay a small fortune for my food. I don't spend any money on water because I can get water anywhere and run it through my Berkey filter, I don't do any touristy things so I'm almost never paying money to do things, and the fuel all depends on where I'm going, how far my destination is.

I’m very interested in your fuse box for the 12 volt appliances. My stumbling block is needing multiple 12 volt things and having to manually plug them in as needed one at a time. The fuse block would be the game changer for me! How is that hard wired? Can you show a little more of that? My stop gap was to put a 12 volt cigarette lighter plug on each appliance wire and plug that into my portable power station. That gets cumbersome fast because there is only one plug like that in a power station.

@@vontrohs honestly, I couldn't explain it. I just know he put that box in and there are wires going into that box to my Bluetti and wires coming out of that box it each appliance, and it all just works. I don't understand it, but I love it!!!!
