The first of a collection of cine footage of the Norfolk Broads taken by the Vardy Family during the course of their boating holidays which span 20 years. This dates from 1965 when they holidayed aboard what looks like one of the Glitter/Glimmer of Light class of motor cruisers from Herbert Woods.
The cruise takes in the Upper Ant, Barton Broad and Ludham Bridge before the holiday group head down the River Bure, passing Acle Bridge, Stokesby and the Stracey Arms before stopping at Great Yarmouth Yacht Station. On the southern rivers, they film Reedham Quay, Haddiscoe before there is a brief glimpse of houses at Oulton Broad at the end.
Lots of lovely wooden cruisers and a nice little snapshot of Broadland in the mid 1960s.
Many thanks to Graham Vardy for donating the films to the Broadland Memories Archive. Thanks also go to Video Impact at Loddon for transferring this film to a digital format for me.
