Legend
According to legend, the sage Vashisht was one of the seven ancient sages, or Saptarishis, and the teacher of Lord Rama and Lakshmana. After learning that his children were killed by King Vishwamitra, Vashisht tried to drown himself in the river, but the river refused to kill him. He was then given a new life and moved to the village of Vashisht.
Temple
The Vashisht Temple is believed to be over 4,000 years old and was rebuilt in 1992. The temple is dedicated to the sage Vashisht and is adorned with wood carvings. It also features a black stone image of the sage.
