A factory always tunes a car with a bit of reserve so they leave some (but not much) power on the table. Group-N tunes basically exploit that very last bit of of reserve. TBH i think it's kind of pointless. The real reason the factory accounts for a bit of reserve is that the stock car has to be able to run reliably all over Europe including countries that have high mountains, cold or hot temperatures or lower fuel quality. They even have to be able to withstand long highspeed (200+km/h) runs on the German autobahns. To conclude: factory tunes are quite sophisticated and very well thought out. Factory drivetrain engineers know what they are doing.

Love these old vuxhalls they were easy to work on and had great desgins also this one being GTE its much nicer also the interior is nice feels like you can spend much time in it and won't get tired, overall great cars wish cars were made like these today would be great for us youngsters to enjoy just like the 20-30 year olds did in 90s.

Great video. The Mk2 Astra was really futuristic at the time and a totally different level to the contemporary Escort, even my mates 1.3L was quick on the motorway, do doubt aided by the low Cd factor.

I have read that the majority of 20mph speed limits are unenforceable. Local councils apparently put all the signs in place but then decided it was too expensive to legally change the roads new speed limits. You can look online somewhere to find out if a speed limit has officially been changed or just the signs have been changed.

Have you tired this tip it might help it run better? From factory after 16 valve are designed to run on standard unleaded fuel if you put higher octane fuel in like super plus V power doesn’t really make any difference unless when you open the bonnet on the top right hand side there should be some kind of loom in that loom there is a cream or brown or green plug It should have two numbers stamped on the plug if disconnect it and plug it in to the higher number which I think it should be 98 /99 this Will tell the ecu To re-calibrate and adjust to super fuel might run better 🤔👍🏻

Standard 16v do 61/62 in second so if it’s been chipped The rev limiter is higher so they normally do nearly 70mph in 2nd and 3 gear and 4th is longer as well 🤘🏻
