Son of Sage Parashar and Satyavati, Krishna Dwaipayan(referring to his dark complexion and birthplace) was widely known as Ved Vyasa since he was the compiler of the Vedas. Also known as one of the seven Chiranjivis, Ved Vyasa is extensively acknowledged as the author of the Mahabharata. Although he was far away from the limelight for most of his life, he had a great impact on the lives of both the Kauravas and Pandavas owing to his being their grandfather. It is in his honour that we celebrate Guru Purnima every year. Watch this video to find out more about Vyasa and the feats achieved by him.
