Learn how to make delicious vegetable samosas with this easy-to-follow recipe. These crispy and golden pastries are filled with a spicy mixture of potatoes, peas, and aromatic spices. Perfect as a snack or appetizer, these samosas are sure to impress your family and friends!
Ingredients:
1 large onion, finely chopped
3 green chillies, finely chopped
6 garlic cloves, crushed
1/2 inch ginger, finely chopped
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp black pepper powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp chaat masala
3/4 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp kasoori methi
1/2 cup green peas
4 potatoes, cooked and mashed
1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves
1+1/2 tbsp cooking oil
Salt to taste
Samosa sheets
Flour paste (to seal samosas)
Oil for frying
(1cup= 250ml)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Prepare the Filling:
Heat 1+1/2 tbsp of cooking oil in a pan.
Add 3 finely chopped green chillies, 6 crushed garlic cloves, and 1/2 inch finely chopped ginger. Sauté for 1 minute.
Add 1 finely chopped onion and continue sautéing until it becomes semi-golden.
Add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp cumin powder, 1/2 tsp black pepper powder, 1/2 tsp garam masala, 1/2 tsp chaat masala, 3/4 tsp red chilli powder, 1/2 tsp kasoori methi, and salt to taste. Mix well and sauté until the raw smell of spices goes away.
Add 1/2 cup green peas and pour a small amount of water. Cover the pan with a lid and cook until the peas are done.
Add 4 cooked and mashed potatoes to the pan and combine well.
Stir in 1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves. Mix thoroughly and let the filling cool.
2. Assemble the Samosas:
Take a samosa sheet and place a spoonful of the filling onto it.
Fold the sheet into a triangle shape, forming the classic samosa shape. Use a paste of flour and water to seal the edges.
3. Fry the Samosas:
Heat oil in a deep frying pan.
Fry the samosas in hot oil until they turn golden and crispy.
Drain the excess oil by placing the fried samosas on paper towels.
4. Serve:
Serve the samosas hot with your favorite chutney or dipping sauce.
