Eating mock meats isn't vegan because you aren't following the harm reduction principle however if you go wfpbd then you're on the right path to ultimate harm reduction, il admit there is a grace period for those processed vegan foods so you can transition in veganism smoothly but once you have then harm reduction should be a principle you abide by

if you ever come to florida, make sure you you go to Aldi's. they have some amazing selections of fresh local fruit. the mangoes here are super big and juicy. it is not the tiny and lame mango that you find as export. they basically have super mango breds from the carribean. that is florida being tropical and all.

This is interesting. We do our main shop at Aldi these days, (fruit, veg, bread etc) although because I’m a whole food plant based person and have to keep my oils down there are several things I can’t get there, and I don’t eat vegan sausages etc because they are processed food. So we go to Tesco/Sainsburys once a month. But this sounds great when I want to try to persuade my daughter to go plant based. (She is very much on a budget).

I haven’t been in a so called supermarket type shop for 18 years now. Personally I see nothing super about them at all, but most are not as fortunate as I consider myself to be. I do occasionally go into the local farm shop but that’s about it. I consider myself very very fortunate to be able to grow my own food on my allotments and at home by the river. I grow vegetables and fruit obviously. I’m very much self-sufficient these days. Making my own wines also. I don’t even use fridges or freezers. I preserve foods by dehydration, pickling, fermentation, whatever. I’ve always been an earth friendly person, but only a vegan, not 100% yet, not far from it though. It’s a work in process still, but I’ve only been a vegan since coming across your channel and watching the film Dominion and others. I will say also that apart from my parents bless them, nobody has had such a changing influence on my life as you have. And as for Piers Morgan. Up his own arse!!!

Congratulations! It is processed "garbage", but since you're speaking in that tone, do you also hold a grudge against omnivorous meat eaters who also eat processed "garbage", or is it only people on a PB diet? @milky2533

@@StarSpangledBanning mate processed meat is garbage too. All I'm saying is, don't preach a "healthy vegan lifestyle" by promoting a bunch of boxed crap. 80% of my diet is PB meals and they are all meals that I cook myself using whole foods. So coming from primarily a health perspective, eating a bunch of boxed crap won't make you "live longer" than meat eaters (which is something that many vegans claim). So a person who is on the fence about becoming vegan will all of a sudden watch this and think that it is ok to just buy all of this boxed crap and think that they are doing their body the world of good. But in fact, eating meat would have been no worse

Had the Aldi vegan meatballs today with pasta to make a bolognaise, was absolutely delicious, my flatmate I’m living with is, unlike myself, not vegan but agreed they were really good and would be happy to have them again. Don’t get me wrong, building a case for ethical veganism is really important and ultimate victory will come when as a society we have that fundamental paradigm shift in values, but in the short term let’s celibate the fact that the meat substitute products on the market now taste good enough that based on taste alone some people are reducing their animal flesh consumption which is going to make it easier for such people to transition to vegan later. We have come such a long way from the days of Linder McCartney’s sausages.

Seek out argument and disputation for their own sake; the grave will supply plenty of time for silence. Suspect your own motives, and all excuses.” - Christopher Hitchens Still, those on tight budget can eat predominantly whole foods. Bags of dry legumes and grains save a lot of money. Today I bought 2kg of brown lentils for £2. One serving for me is 50g dry (yields over 1/2 cup cooked lentils), so I get 20 servings for £1. So one serving is just 5p. Compare that with buying canned legumes/beans/lentils/peas, where you get 3 servings from a can and you pay between 30p and 50p at Aldi or Lidl. I've calculated how much it costs me to follow Dr Greger’s Daily Dozen recommendations in the UK and it's between £2 and £3 a day. And it's healthful af. The most expensive ingredients are kale and frozen berries. Everything else is cheap.
