I went vegetarian in 1980. Things were different, as it was considered really difficult. Then in 1998 , I started to go vegan and it was really hard for there were very few options outside of my own home. When I went vegan for good in 2006, the world had started to embrace and pave the way to make it easy for anyone. We live in a remarkable time to end cruelty.Thank you for all you do.

I went back on my veganism a few times for weight loss and health but I knew I was very wrong and it only ever lasted a few days because the guilt was unbearable. And you can even slide back into vegetarianism too by saying things to yourself like, " I'm a hare Krishna,my religion allows me to be vegetarian " ,,OR " vegetarianism ain't so bad ,the cows are ok ". But after having watched Dominion last night I am back on track. I cried throughout most of it. And I don't know what I can do from here. 3:26 these are false equivalences. The vegan way of life affects what foods you can eat, which has a direct impact on your appearance and state of health. These are not pure ad hominem attacks, since you often claim that a properly planned plant based diet is adequate for all stages of life, they are challenging this because you seem much more healthy and energetic in your earliest videos then you do now. Can this really be attributed to age? The average McDonald's eating, soda drinking person I know ages better than that, but you guys are apparently found the diet that is supposed to be a pathway to health? Simplifying nutrition down to just whether the nutrient is in the food or not is a false binary, the vehicle in which delivers the nutrients to the body is very important. For example your body will much more readily absorb heme iron from animal products over non heme iron, also this is true with DHA and EPA omega 3s over ALA omega 3s. Vitamin A is much more bioavailable from retinol sources than from beta carotene sources (No one disputes this). A plant based diet is very dependent on what enzymes that a person creates in order to absorb the food, which animal products are in general much more readily available. The enzymes a body is able to make can be dependent on genetics, age, and exposure. The plant based diet associated with veganism is not universal as you claim it to be. Most of the people taking time to comment are not ”haters" but people concerned for your wellbeing, maybe you shouldn't always assume the worst in people.

I’ve had an eating disorder for years. A side effect of said eating disorder has been nutrient deficiencies. Because of my illness (and eating a very poor diet for a sustained period of time), I’ve been deficient in carbohydrates (i.e. hypoglycaemic), protein, potassium, magnesium, iron (possibly others which weren’t tested). I also happen to be vegan. I’m now in treatment for this illness, and even the dieticians (who are not vegan) agree that I’ll be able to successfully heal my body of prolonged malnutrition on a fully plant based diet. They also are able to recognise that veganism is not necessarily disordered, and is a core belief for many - and in fact, psychologically healthy for me because it connects me to a very positive part of who I am: ethical and compassionate.

One thing vegans prove again and again. We are great at intelligent thinking, as well as reasoning. We are critical thinkers, while meat eaters always state without evidence, they are great at assuming, and seem to live in their own world of self righteousness and none scientific beliefs. I think meat eating DOES causes brain damage! Maybe is the chemicals in the meat. Or maybe it could be that the brain works much better with a high carbohydrate intake. I mean, I created the most accurate theory of gravity as a vegan. Hope some day I get discovered. It is quite ridiculous that some of us can do amazing things, but we have to get “discovered “ so that others can know what we have achieved.
@Nagato292

You do realise that vast majority of scientists, including Nobel prize winners, are meat eaters? Also, it's a widely accepted scientific theory that eating and cooking meat, and quickly gaining a lot of easy to digest nutrients from it, is what allowed primates to develop smaller stomach and bigger brains, leading to them evolving into humans we have today. If prehistoric hominids were vegans, we would be still swinging from the branches by now.
@samuelmiensinompe4902
2 жыл бұрын
@@Nagato292 oh boy, another one..... Yes, it stands to reason that in a none vegan world most scientists would be none vegans. But the majority of scientists don’t really discover anything because they are just looking at the perspective of reality, not reality itself. This is because the brain did not evolve to see reality, only the perspective of it because that is what animals needed to survive. This is why most scientific theories keep changing. When it comes to meat eating developing larger brains. OMG! That is just a theory and when you study it, you find out is as clownish as animals being self aware by recognizing their image in the mirror..... IT IS PSEUDOSCIENCE! What makes animals intelligent is their social and biological environment. Like I stated before, the brain is an organ that evolved to make organisms which moves, move the right manner to avoid being eaten, avoid danger, and to eat. These are the most important factors that made brains develop. Brains can develop in any diet. Which is why parrots and crows have a higher IQ than humans at some types of reasoning. What made humans smarter was probably a social structure full of deceit, war, and other smart tactics which made the dumb individuals be killed, starved, or not breed. And taking into account what a deceitful liars, conniving, fraudulent beings we are, it stand to reason this was, indeed, the cause of our growth in intelligence.
@Nagato292

@@samuelmiensinompe4902 The reason meat is linked to brain size is because brain requires a lot of calories (our brain consumes a 20% of the total caloric intake). and a dead animal is the best source of nutrients in the wild. Before agriculture, food preservation and selective breeding most fruits were small, tough and highly seasonal. Without meat smart (and thus big brained) humans would not have survived.
@tspicks4360

@@Nagato292 Meat is linked to brain size? I've seen theories to that effect, haven't seen actual evidence to that effect. An alternate theory is that cooked starches (a source of calories not available to any other species) made the explosion in brain size possible. Hmm, lions eat meat (exclusively) - why don't they have bigger relative brain size than we do? Elephants have much greater size, and brain size, than lions ... yet they eat no animal flesh. Hmm ... :)
@samuelmiensinompe4902

@@Nagato292 yes, that science is total.. to place it simply, crap! If calories was so difficult for herbivores to acquire, my God.... there would be no hippos, elephants, gorillas, rhinos. Plus intelligence can be acquired in small brains. Intelligence is about how the brain reacts to certain outside stimulation as well as social. If humans were living in a low calorie environment, they would have grown small and smart. This theory has way more problems than this, but I just don’t have the time to point out the moronic essence of this ridiculous theory! But today if I wanted to get fat on vegan food, I would eat a lot of avocados, potatoes, and flax seeds.

Watch the very first introduction video to this channel, compared to now. This lady has aged 15+ years. Yes, she's pretty. But the rate of aging is NOT NORMAL. I was vegan almost 5 years and I became so ill, anemic and weak that I almost had to quit my job. All I got was a bunch of vegans telling me I DiD It WrONG. This is not a diet centered on health, it's a diet centered on ethics. There's a huge difference. Neither of them look vibrant, truly happy or healthy. That's the issue, it's not how much she's aged, although I is an alarming aspect to it...its not the important thing. The important issue is we as humans require certain nutrients that are not in a vegan diet. As a vegan you MUST supplement b12, and iron more than likely. Guess what? I took both those supplements faithfully while I was vegan and I still became extremely deficient in both b12 and iron. I battled with anemia the entire time I was vegan. It shouldn't be a struggle to maintain healthy iron levels, and it shouldn't be a requirement to take any supplement on an optimal diet. I'm not even going to go in depth on other issues with the vegan diet, such as the complete lack of cholesterol and WHY our body must have it, the fact that this deficient diet is prime example on how you get a leaky gut, the Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio and how inflammatory most plant and seed oils are, and that's the only form of fat vegans are allowed to have..plant oil on its own, is not the fat our bodies need. Taking a glance at non bias facts on our health needs makes all of these things very obvious and clear. It's fine if you want to bevegan, do you. But promoting this as healthy quite honestly really pisses me off and is EXTREMELY, EXTREMELY MISLEADING. I have never been sicker I my life than the last year I was vegan, before I had enough. Our bodies require more than this. Otherwise, be prepared for future dental issues and tooth decay/loss, bone density issues, neurological issues, hormone issues, reproductive issues, vitamin deficiencies that won't go away, the list goes on and on.
@Intuitionisfree
2 жыл бұрын
@@IndigoRoses7 I have never had those issues. B12 is a bacteria that grows in the ground. It doesn’t come from animals. You don’t have to supplement B12 however. Technically you can source it naturally from duckweed and even a small amount from mushrooms. Those sources are unreliable however, which is why many recommend supplementation. Even omnivores are often deficient in B12, so it is likely this issue is more complicated than just being a vegan diets fault. Seed oils are not healthy. I do not consume a lot and they have never been recommended as a health product among the leading plant based doctors. It is not necessary. You can get omega 3 and 6 fatty acids from eating fruits, vegetables, and particularly leafy greens (which are particularly abundant in omega 3 fatty acids and never talked about). I was iron deficient as a vegetarian. But as a much more educated vegan I do not experience such issues. It has been observed repeatedly that absorption of non-heme(plant sourced) iron is increased by 4X the amount with the addition of vitamin C. I have only experienced issues when I was on my period and therefore low in iron, not eating enough, or not consuming enough vitamin C with my meals or in general. I eat a mostly raw vegan diet and have the belief based on my research, experiences, and ability to critically think on the subject that humans are frugivores, because we seem to do best eating mostly fruit no matter what else we also consume. The longest living people all eat plant based diets, with a heavy leaning towered high carbohydrates and low fat. There doesn’t seem to be any nutrient that cannot be sourced from plants in a better way. Therefore, it seems that a vegan diet is not only most likely the healthiest, but also the most ethical.
@Intuitionisfree
2 жыл бұрын
@@IndigoRoses7 there are a variety of reasons a person may look aged. 1) they are aged and not a baby anymore as we all tend to grow up and eventually age even though we all are searching for immortality… often in vain 2) the lighting is not ideal and makes their skin appear gray and as if they have under eye bags, etc… 3) they are dehydrated and therefore their skin looks taunt 4) they have a low body fat. Body fat insulates and plumps up the skin, therefore making it appear more supple and youthful. Overweight people often appear younger in this way as they look like they have more “baby” fat. However, overweight people still have faster metabolisms and despite appearances, on a cellular level they are actually aging faster than a leaner person and thus are more prone to disease and death. They do not look especially young I will be honest. But they don’t look like they have aged 15+ years. But I have a feeling they are not especially young and they are also both clearly very lean. The other points about their possible health status are not really possible to discuss as I do not know or have their lab reports, etc..
