he had toured with DGD at one point as a replacement guitarist, so it only makes sense that his time there would impact the music VoM produced after

Love the album, and I think I just might fall into addiction with those cleans When the first second of Lost Creator started, I thought I accidentally played Mikasa somewhere LOL It felt shorter to me than it is, and I personally think one more track like Outrun would've been nice!

Wishing the album with Members Only and Outsider didn't get scrapped. That was the reason for the delay. I believe an entire album was recorded with Taylor Larson who recorded Matriarch but it got shelved over disagreements and the band didn't seem to indicate those sessions went well

I enjoy this album so much. It is heavy and fun, disgusting and uplifting, technical and groovy. The synthy and clean parts are catchy. The skill is insane. Sick as fuck record, imo. Been a casual listener since ID. Never had a massive obsession with the band until this record. Will be returning to previous records because of it.

I love the album. I did feel the last three songs all being heavy with no cleans maybe could of been spaced out a little better… but really, no real complaints here. Perfect album. Also reconnect is the best song of the year so far hands down

They really need to capitalise more on those big open choruses. The djenty displaced grooves with lots of 1s and 0s get old after a while. Lukas has a really beautiful clean voice.

I hear you on the 1s and 0s, however, Marc Okubo has such a signature style with that. Like, when you hear it, you know instantly "that's Marc Okubo", I'm here for it. All of it.

@@sarcasm4371 yeah I’m a fan of older VoM and I have to agree, the forced choruses every song gets tired quicker than the different guitar rhythms

Curious comment. They are part of the djent movement for over ten years. Those polymeter/polyrhythm grooves are a fundamental part of their sound, and they take it to a crazy level this record. I love it. The riffs on this record are sick as fuck. Such an accomplishment.

@@gSWG3R that is fair enough. Your perspective reflects where you are as a listener. Which is great. Hope you find the style of metal you crave 🤘 Recently, my obsession has been Animals as Leaders - Parrhesia. Mostly because of the jazz fusion that has been applied to their blend of modern progressive metal. However, I absolutely love the djent approach to groove, have done for over 13 years; longer if you include Meshuggah. I love technical and bouncy groove. Veil of Maya bring the goods this album. But, they have great choruses and synthy pop moments. Such a fun record when you are in the mood for it. ❤

Lot of big albums this year so far: Death Below, Seventh Sun, Mother, Heavener, Death We Seek, Djent Is Not A Genre, whatever Fit For A King’s album is called. Of all of them, this was what I was “least” excited for; this is my number 1 album out of all of them so far. Outsider is my personal favorite song of theirs, and despite having pretty much 0 songs on the album that have that sort of sound, I think Mother is incredible. I listened to it 10 times yesterday and my coworkers were not happy with me about it 😅

I think it falls exactly in like with their last few albums just more synth integration. Also, emphasizing the 16ths duos and triplets trying to make the feel "jarring" was kind of overly repetitive. I think the album is great, but it's also just more of the same. I will say vocally, this was a huge upgrade. Some of the highs Lucas hit were excellent.

Also, Heavener isn't in my top 10. I know controversial take, but I cant get into the main/mid screams at all. The cleans are pretty great, but with half or more of the vocals being that tone of scream, I just cannot get behind it.
