When I'm old and grey and incapacitated, I shall have this playing on a loop at the end of my bed. I have a 38 MAC, and this is just the ticket!

Nice sharp video enjoying your bike. Sounds very similar to my Ariel '38. Thanks for uploading.

I recently got one myself and I need help. Is she called "MAC" like in MacGregor or is she called "M-A-C" ? It has to be settled once and for all.

MAC I believe, I'm quite new to mine too, a 1958 model. Mine usually starts quite well from cold but is a pain when hot. After I filled up with petrol at the garage the other night I spent an hour there waiting for it to cool down in order to start the engine again. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, I will check the starting procedure.

@@l0ner1der Thanks for the answer, mine is a '56. She used to present the same misbehaviour until I screwed in an NGK plug B7ES (I take it that yours has got an Aluminum head as well, for the cast iron head it's B7HS) and changed the heat isolation pad between the carb and the head. It's a rather thick one on the MAC. I hope you don't mind my asking but the tappet clearence is allright? The MAC has a slightly different procedure of adjusting because the cams have quietening ramps. Cheers!

@@carlnapp4412 Ah ok, just checked and it has a champion N5C, so I've ordered the NGK one you mentioned, thanks for the tip. I'm not sure about the other items you mentioned, I'm new to this and engines in general, bit of a learning curve ahead!

Jeremy...my first bike was a1948 MOV which I rebuilt at the age of 16. I,m well acquainted with the MAC and also the 500 cc Venom. The Velo was followed by a long stroke 350 Norton single, a 350 Triumph twin, a 500 cc Matchless a disastrous Lambretta, a 650 BSA Goldstar, a750 Suzuki GS, Suzuki GSX 750, a Yamaha XJ900, a Kawasaki GPZ 1000RX. Not forgetting a string of small capacity commuter bikes and mopeds too numerous to mention. No...I haven,t owned a Harley, a Vincent or a Brought Superior but to conclude that I don't know my bikes, based on a comment on a video pointing out that a riders view of a fuel tank being ridden along a country road with a sound track but no shots of the ENGINE is probably more indicative of someone who thinks they know what they are talking about but lacks the life experience to make any sort of judgement based on a casual remark.

ANY CHANCE OF ACTUALLY SEEING THE BIKE ? FULL RIGHT HAND SIDE PROFILE ? NICE RIDE BUT BAD PHOTOGRAPHY OF BIKE . WHAT'S THE POINT IF WE CAN'T SEE THE VELO .

Is it a Velocette? Could be an Enfield Bullet or a Japanese replica? Why bother with the video, just play the soundtrack.

@@vicksdad You really don't know your bikes do you? The MAC is pretty much unique in that it has a very long stroke for it's engine size. Thus it runs more like a sidevalve, very flexible and lots of low down torque. That's obvious when watching and more importantly listening to this

First eight minutes could have been edited down to two minutes max. And the final two minutes was more of the same. Meh.
