This is my build of Velocicoaster at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Some of the elements have been modified for space or momentum shortages, so it’s not exact.
-The ride features 5 inversions
-I used WD-40 to lubricate the wheels.
-The trains and track come from multiple Screamin’ Serpent sets
-Construction took around 5 weeks.
-The launch is wound up by two Black&Decker screwdrivers
-The entire launch system is automated using lego EV3.
-I record my videos using a standard Walmart Security Camera
-Various lighting techniques such as mounted blacklight flashlights and alternating light bricks enhance the theming.
-There are four moving velociraptor figures, and a stationary fifth.
The launch an elastic cable that is wound up by a screwdriver and held into place by a gearbox. The first launch is released by hand by pressing a lever, and the second one is released automatically by a sensor as to not interrupt the pacing of the ride.
For a more in-depth explanation of the launch system, check out my second update on the coaster!
