Ivan Jukic had a promising football career ahead of him until injury took him out of the game at the age of 18. His unshakeable love for the sport remained, leading him to pursue a PhD in sport science at AUT SPRINZ.
The focus of his research is on velocity-based resistance training monitoring and prescription. We collaborated with the German sports technology company Enode to assess the effectiveness of their tools for measuring movement velocities during resistance training. Our study demonstrated that Enode devices are highly sensitive and reproducible, offering accurate readings for a small fraction of the cost of the gold standard.
The results of this study have significant implications and provide researchers, coaches, and athletes with a trustworthy, affordable tool to optimise resistance training programs. Athletes can maximise performance while lowering their risk of injury by monitoring their daily preparedness and modifying their training loads in real time.
