Just picked one up last week, got to say pretty darn good. This is my first ebike i bought from a manufacturer. My first 2 were custom built bafang mid drive. Getting older and wanted a step thru. I love it has many great features. 😊

This is my 4th ebike and impressed me from the beginning until I hit a pothole on my first ride around the neighborhood. So, as one of the reasons I bought this bike was the front fork, an intriguing "hydraulic suspension 80 mm (3 inch) travel with lockout..." I asked for instructions and received them the next day. Taking the right side dial out of lockout and turning the left side dial counerclockwise, the fork continued to feel like a rigid one. I couldn't budge it by hand. Turning the left side dial as hard as you can with your fingers, it broke off. Now, functionally, I have a rigid fork. I'm asking for a real suspension fork, an air fork like the one I have on two other bikes, that I can install myself as my dealer is 3 hours away. I'll pay the extra cost. However, I now doubt the integrity of the other equipment on this bike and until it's fixed I can't recommend it. Stay tuned.

Finally, I’ve been waiting for this review. How does it compare overall to the Ride1UP LMT’D V2?
@ElectricBikeReport
5 ай бұрын
They're very different bikes, so it really just comes down to personal preference. The LMT'D is just a good, simple, and straightforward bike that's best if you just wanna hop on and go without thinking. The Discover 2 has so much more of everything, so you get much more customization, but it's also more to think about and manage. Riding positions are different too, the LMT'D has more of a lean while the Discover is more upright.

I absolutely love how thorough your reviews are. Just when I thought I was sold on the Radater Road, this review comes out and makes me question everything! (Not mad about it). That part that’s pushing me even closer to the Discover 2 is that one of my local bike shops carries Velotric. Before I go test ride both of these bike would you be able to share how they compare to each other?
@ElectricBikeReport

Thanks for watching! Both bikes have a lot of similar features, although I think the Discover 2 has a few extras that the Radster does not, like all of the riding modes, cruise control, a higher capacity rack, etc. The riding position of the Discover is a bit more upright and more adjustable. The Radster generally felt more stable and responsive. I think they're fairly well balanced, so it's honestly tough to suggest one over the other. Just depends on what you prefer!

@@ElectricBikeReport thanks so much for the reply. I definitely looking to stay with an upright style (upgrading from a 2019 Blix Aveny). If you don’t mind, I have one more question regarding the cruise control. With a cadence sensor, I don’t have to do any work if I don’t want to in order to get home after a long day of riding around. Am I understanding the cruise control correctly, I can use the cruise control if I want to get some where quickly without any effort or constantly relying on the throttle? Thanks.

@@kris10tackles - If the cruise control on the Discover 2 is anything like my Lectric (which I suspect it is), then...once you choose a speed and set the cruise, it'll stay at that speed with no extra effort from you. It's really cool!! I use it when I bike-walk my dog. Then, when you hit either of the brakes, the cruise is cut off and you're back in whatever setting you were in before. Hope that helps. 😊

Went to a local bike dealer today and rented the Aventon Level 2 and the Aventon Aventure Fat Tire to decide which one to buy (I’m pretty sure I won’t go with the fat tire for the type of riding I mostly do). Then the dealer talks to me about the Velotric Discover 2. So now I’m completely torn between the Level 2 and the Discover 2. They seem pretty similar but the features of the Discover 2 might win me over. If you have any thoughts to sway me one way or the other, I’d appreciate it. One of your other videos is what finally helped narrow the sea of options down for me and I am so grateful!

We're happy to help! And ultimately you can't go wrong between those two. We liked the Level's torque sensor a little more, but the amount of customization on the Discover is pretty remarkable, and it does have a few extra features. Their handlebars and riding positions are a bit different too, so it just comes down to what you prefer!

So the Aventon level 2 doesn't have blinkers and has a small black n white display. I did not like the throttle level, it was very awkward. The Velotric Discover 2 has an AWESOME display and great customization for comfort. The throttle is ergonomic and handlebars are comfortable too. I went looking for Aventon (but i found on my own) and left with left the Velotric. Now my husband wants mine 😁 Not 100% but i think the velotric has a bigger motor 🤔

Aventon gave them a nice bonus? The written version of the review says that Boost is 30 percent faster than trail on hill climbs.
@skeller61
3 ай бұрын
@@DM-fp8uw That checks out, since I think it was one minute forty two seconds, decreasing that by 30% (32 seconds) would make the time one minute ten seconds. Sorry for writing out the times, but I didn’t want them to turn into time links. Anyway, they really dropped the ball on that one. Here a Velotric gives you three modes and five pedal assist levels, and they don’t use the highest. They normally seem somewhat unbiased, but this was just uncalled for. Of course, with the pedal assist times, how could the rider be consistent in pedaling up the long, steep hill consistently? The brake test also suffers from human error potential, if he doesn’t start braking at exactly the same point each time. But, they’re better than nothing, in that they at least take each bike through the same process.

@user-hy1dy2tp8z I agree that mounting points would be a nice-to-know part of a review, but to be fair, they don’t seem to include this on any reviews, so at least it’s balanced in that way. Ironically, before I got the bike, I got the heaviest duty Abus folding lock (6500K) and found it wasn’t compatible with the mounting points on the D2’s vertical frame (they interfere with it’s included mount that uses straps), so I can’t mount it on the bike.

@@cynic256 It makes the pedal assist number 1:28 seconds. That's not fantastic, but still respectable. The 30 percent difference was on a different hill climb test so we will never know exactly what the number would be. This is an inexplicable fail on EBR's part. Every other bike they test is on max power. I was only half kidding when I said Aventon must have paid them a bonus. If I were Velotric, I would be pissed.
