maybe the most beautiful song ever written. Since you're here I know it means something profound to you, as it does to me. Maybe existence is all we share, but what a trip it is.

Harmonically, the "don't you find, that it's lonely" parts are just beautiful. I'm a musician myself, and this is the best song on the album, for me, just for those little segments. Watch the footage of them performing it live at Glastonbury. Wonderful.

Oh, so glad to read this. I'm not a musician and lately, listening to the album, which I didn't for years, and particularly to this song, I became blisfully lost at that part of the chorus, and finding it strangely perfect without knowing the technical reason, and thinking how superb it is and sadly so underrrated. Best song no doubt. One Day is quite special as well.

This song got me through some roughest times in college. I was seeing a therapist, who was awesome and everything, but at the end of the day, I felt so much more understood by this song than by him. The thing is, it didn’t fix any of my problems. But it made me feel a little less alone in the cold dark place I was in, and it made all the difference in the world. Music, bless your soul

I have been a diehard Verve/Ashcroft fan since the day I picked this album up randomly. Yep, I hadn't even heard "Bittersweet Symphony" yet. I was such a huge fan of UK everything since childhood being a diehard Smiths/The Cure fan, and just by glancing at the cover then reading the track listing I picked it up for the new release sale price of $7.99 :). I haven't turned back since this album is my third favorite record of all time and finally years ago my dream/goal was achieved when I finally seen the Master Sir Richard live in concert opening for Coldplay in Milwaukee. I went with my kid's mother and she couldn't understand why I was beyond excited way more for the opener than the headliner. I was like because it's RICHARD FRICKIN ASHCROFT!!! Of course the crowd didn't know any of his solo material nor other Verve songs like "Lucky Man" or "The Drugs Don't Work". But, when he closed with the only damn song American radio thinks this man/band ever made I heard fans say oh it's that guy etc. What a crock? The Verve are just untouchable in my book, Master Class!!!

The memories of Velvet Morning will always be of absolute heartbreak. I know there’s associations of drugs to it; but for me the lyrics are trying to come to terms with having the shit kicked out of you by a lover, “I’m trying to tell you about my life, but my tongues still twisted I’m more dead than alive”. That was as a late teenager; life is perfect now, but this masterpiece will always have that underlying meaning in my book.

This song has been a better comfort for the aftermath of a mental breakdown than anything has ever... guess its another velvet morning for me....
