If music awards had album title of the year, this would easily swipe all of them.

Oh wow, first VSnares review and it's his most abstract and single-minded to date. I sincerely commend you on having something coherent to say about this, although I honestly would expect nothing less-although I do find it funny that I, an edgy edgeperson what likes the harsh noise and things, probably was less into this one than you were. As for what you skipped in the In Brief segment which I think you should have covered, while I get your trepidation with respect to Doll Doll Doll given its subject matter, it really is a watershed moment in hardcore techno and absolutely fantastic… if also legitimately *deeply* unsettling, although I consider that part of its appeal up to a point. While you can point to guys like Alec Empire as doing the whole breakcore thing earlier, Doll Doll Doll feels not just like Funk coming into his own as a truly original and brilliant artist (although he was always interesting and ahead of the curve), but of that very sinister, frantic, emotionally fraught sound growing into something entirely apart from its precursors in NYC speedcore, UK/European IDM and the like. Folks like Aaron's touring buddy and occasional collaborator Stunt Rock were also crucial in this pivot early on, of course, but that album feels like a real break with the past, no pun intended.

Hey Tommy thanks for introducing my to Venetian Snares. They sound pretty interesting. Just two questions. What are your thoughts on Faithless? And Would you ever consider reviewing them?

I got their 2.0 compilation and I find most of the stuff on the disc of hits to be pretty good, though some of the last few tracks were forgettable. Salva Mea from what I've heard of them is probably their most complex track, strange given its their first single.

for the albums youve missed: doll doll doll is his horror-breakcore magnum opus about child murder, 10/10 (jk) and my so called life and thank you for your consideration are basically just pick and choose your favourite tracks, you wouldnt really lose out on any details not listening to them in full (mscl being an album consisting of "short stories" as he described and tyfyc being an album he put out for his fans after they helped him out of a financial problem by buying his stuff on bc) and i mean the others i also didnt find that interesting, so good call, heh maybe check out his breakout ep greg hates car culture, the infolepsy ep and the stuff he did as last step (acid) liked the review a lot btw, cheers mate

I listened to some of I:Cube's work (notably "Le Dub" and "Lak" off of Adore), from what I've heard, he ventures through multiple facets of chilled out and downtempo tracks (also some IDM material with Lak). An artist I should listen to more honestly.

Always thought his music was definitely ameteur-ish and skeletal. Still have a weird appeal to even his noisier works like Higgins. Chocolate Wheelchair is good no matter what mood I'm in, and The Hungarian Album is untouchable. Traditional Synthesizer Music is surprisingly good too.
