We're going on a roadtrip in a week (Wurzburg Germany, Klagenfurt Austria, Lake Bled, Ljubljana Slovenia, Rovinj Croatia and Venice. Your video's have truly been helpful and an inspiration on what to do and what not. Happy that we have booked an apartment near the city centre of Venice (Castello) so we can get away from the crowds every now and then to 'catch our breath' ;-)

Hi Rok, have enjoyed your videos on Venice very much, thanks. Can you tell us is it permitted to buy food and/or drinks and consume them on or near the minor canals? Cheers Michael and Wendy (from Australia)
@rokgoesaround

Thanks for asking. There are no restrictions, you can buy and consume food anywhere you like. Only on the main square you might be politely warned by local police if you do something wrong, but there are no fines.

Looking forward to visiting Venice next month and trying some Tramezzini and Cicchetti! Were there any actual restaurants that you would recommend?

Good time to visit. Sorry, I don't have any particular restaurants. I would avoid St. Marks square as it is really expensive. Also some restaurants in Venice are known for scams, so you should always check the menu and the prices before you order. I wish you a great trip.

What is the best way to get our luggage from the train to our hotel?
@rokgoesaround
2 жыл бұрын
Depends where your hotel is and how much luggage you have. If you pack lightly you should be fine using public water bus Vaporeto. Than you need to carry your luggage from the stop to the hotel. If you need to cross bridges to get to your hotel be aware that all bridges have steps. Otherwise you can get a private water taxi. Maybe you should also check this video to get a better idea kzitem.info/news/bejne/0GuCtmqdhWuYnZg

Thank you Rock for your videos. Well, in Venice they charge for everything. When I was there in 1998 I took the Vaporetto and the guy charge me for my lodge, The public bathroom is about today 4 Euros and they give small toilet paper. These are some examples that you have deal in Venice. One cup of cappuccino in Saint Mark's square is about 15 Euros. If you want to visit Venice please be prepare.

Venice - overpriced, overcrowded, overrated. Before you jump down my throat with your criticism I thank you for your opinion. However, after having visited Venezia about 20 times, please respect my opinion.

Respected. But I have also been in Venice many times and every time I found it absolutely amazing and for such a unique and popular place high prices are expected.

The best Tramezzini are in Venice! I refuse to eat anything else for lunch! Tried making them at home, but it is never the same! One thing I would NOT eat in Venice is Pizza, go to Naples for that! Eat typical Venetian food and you can’t go wrong! I have had a fab lunch for 8 euros, but always away from tourist traps! Also, if you want real Italian food, ask if the chef is Italian! Why? 70% of crap food is because the chef is Chinese or Bangladeshi! Not kidding, 70%!! I refuse to enter a restaurant enticed by NON- Italian! I am happy to go to China, IF I wanted Chinese food! So, ask in future! It’s not offensive, it’s your money!
