What an absolutely wonderful service you are providing, and the quality of this video and instructions are top notch! I have one question/suggestion. Considering the importance of properly backing up one's system and creating rescue media before attempting an update, have you considered creating a step-by-step tutorial for that? No doubt there are countless videos from other creators covering this process, but you explain things in such a clear and dare I say comforting way, I think it would really help your viewers to cover all their bases without having to search out other content. Forgive me if you've already made such a video; I could not find it.

I think it's important to note that Apple sold MBP 2015 models well into 2018. I purchased one Fall of 2018 and paid a hefty price. For these customers to only get up to Monterey OS is not what promotes a sense of loyalty. Basically, that's only 3 updates from 2018. Inability to have Ventura on a system that's barely 4 years old is unacceptable. Disappointment is an understatement. I am grateful for Mr. Macintosh and the people working on OCLP for their efforts.

I work as a local computer consultant, and my niche is helping older folks with their computer issues. Many times a client will get a new Mac and give me their old one for refurbishing. Yesterday I brought home a 14,1 iMac (2013) which had topped out with Catalina. I went with the OpenCore patcher and installed Ventura without a hitch. The magic here is that this 9 year old computer now has another ten years of useful service. This machine has full access to all the latest apps in the Apple store, and even with stock mechanical 1Tb HD, it runs nice and snappy. I already have a buyer, it sold for $300. If this were a Windows computer of the same year and spec, I would be lucky to get $100, even if loaded with latest Windows. The used Mac market is lined with gold nuggets, especially with the OpenCore patcher hack. Thanks very much!

It only took about 25 minutes for the entire process upgrading from OCLP Monterey. I will be looking at the computer some more tonight to see if it has any issues. I did have to install the post patch but that was it! thanks again to everyone involved in this project. I have been using OCLP now since Big Sur. I receive free broken computers from buy nothing sell nothing groups in my community. I then spend about $21 on a small SSD, and install OCLP on these computers and give them away to community members and kids. Most of the time I show them a quick down and dirty about how to update the computers and support them if they have any issues. @@Mr.Macintosh The project started during the pandemic when I was a Development Director for a nonprofit in St.Louis City. Many of the youth I worked with needed computers to continue their education toward their GED at my center. I couldn't get enough grant funding to pay for devices and hotspots, so I started this project. After I left the NP, people in the community continued to reach out to me, and I no longer had any grant funding for devices, so I just started sourcing them from buy nothing groups. Sadly, I can't fulfill all the requests I get due to my supply only being free Macs, lol! So whenever I find something really cheap or discarded, I spend my own money on the device and SSD. I usually have spare ram to at least make them 8GB. I've ventured into fixing ipads as well when I am able to get them for free. Paper packaging and thinner boxes from Apple are not contributing to environmental activism; keeping devices running, although constant pushback from Apple is helping change the world. From a scientist trying to change the world one computer at a time, thanks!

Thanks for the clearest presentation of how to do this kind of patch that exists. An old 10,1 MacBook Pro that is a gem for solidity, durability, lightness, keyboard backlighting, and useful ports like those for HDMI and SD Cards, like the newest models, feels new again with this Ventura implementation.

It made have more confidence on what I must do on a MacBook Pro coming from 2012. So, I will try this out. Thank you for every detail that you mentioned on this video.

Thanks! My 8 yo son can now use Swift Playgrounds on our MacBookPro 13” Retina from 2015. With a dual core 2.9GHz and the 16GB RAM and an upgraded 970 EVO 2TB NVMe, it is certainly still a capable computer with a nice keyboard. He has been using his iPad with the small 9” display and floppy keyboard for playgrounds and has gotten excited about typing and having a “real” computer. I can’t wait to show him tomorrow morning!

Thank you so much, it took me a couple of times to get this to work on my 2013 27 iMac but eventually upgraded to Ventura 13.6.7. I was going to but a 2019 iMac so I could upgrade my music software but my current iMac has 24gb RAM and a 2TB SSD so is quite capable of running the software I use. Saved me about $2000!

Finally after months of trial and error i got Ventura installed....better late than never!!! And now there is a new version of os coming!! 🤪🙈. So for anyone out there that has had the same problem I had installing Ventura, let me explain how i fixed the issues. So after trialing many ways to try install Ventura with no success, i eventually just downloaded the latest Monetary and wiped my whole Mac..after that, i then attempted the Ventura again, and to my surprise, Ventura installer launched this time with no issues!!

Thanks to this superb video my mid-2015 retina MBP is running Ventura. What a great service both Mr. Macintosh and the OCLP team have provided. Many thanks and congrats to all involved. FYI I used an external hard drive for the installation and did an upgrade in place not an erase and new install. Worked without a hitch. I have a 1 TB internal SSD and 16 Gig of memory. Machine still runs great.

@@timrault Hi, Tim. It runs really well. I have noticed one thing but I can't definitely blame it on OpenCore and Ventura. From time to time (less than once a week), my wireless network connection gets hung and I need to reboot the laptop. Other than that, not a single hitch.

I used Open Core Legacy Patcher to install OSX Ventura on an iMac (late 2015) Intel Core i7 4ghz 16GB DDR3 AMD Radeon 2GB and it CRAWLS. This is insane. EDIT: I wasn't prompted to run the patcher after the initial install. I restarted the Open Core Legacy Patcher and ran the Root Patcher and everything is GREAT! Thank you for this video!

hello Mr. Macintosh, Thank you for your great tutorial videos. On old macs, imac8.1, macmini 3.1 and 4.1, macbook 6.1 and 7.1 (did that the last two days) you can use the macOS upgrade from Monterey 12.6.2 to Ventura 13.2, you do not need a fresch USB install. Works! Greetings from Stuttgart, Germany, Oliver

This s a great guide. Your voice is very calming and much needed. I did this on a imac 13,1 (late 2012) after 4 tries with an error (updater can not continue) I re-booted 4 times with option key held down and on the 4th time no error and it finally got me to the login screen. I had fully backed up everything with a time port. But i think i went slightly grey, so make sure you backup. And have a plan B. 🙂
