@@crazidirtbiker Do you use any perlite to aerate/lighten the soil mixture? I've been super wary of adding more than about 4:1 peat:sand.

@@timyarrow8844 No iv actually never used perlite once. Not to say that there's anything wronge with it because there isn't but if you use enough sand it aerates just as well. Personally i like to try and make it as close to its natural environment as possible... there's no perlite in swamp Boggs. Also I just never liked the way it looked anyway. Iv used spagnum and peat mixed with no sand at all before and iv used peat and sand mix with no problem. Could it of grown better with perlite? Idk maybe but it always works fine without it. These days I just like to stick with my peat and sand mixture. I like a lot of sand in my mix. The only exception to using perlite is if i couldn't get sand. Even then I probably wouldn't use it.

@@crazidirtbiker Food for thought. I used a much sandier mix this past spring and I think I came close to killing my flytraps. I re-potted back to peat-perlite with a light sand mix, and they bounced back. Thanks for info.

@@timyarrow8844 that's interesting. Were you using silica or quarts sand? Play sand or anything else maybe harmful.

No i live near Pittburgh Pennsylvania. The big pot i started in 2013 so it would be 8 years now. All divisions from 1 original plant.

you really improved your camera work :D Maybe you could do a new pot with a faster growing more colourful clone with dark red inside the traps.
