Sir what about taste.isnt it a verb of perception
@Malecot
3 жыл бұрын
Yes it is, but that verb can’t be used in combination with another verb. “I tasted him talking,” for example, makes no sense.

Sir, what is the correct verb form in passive ? He was seen ..... - leave - leaving - to leave - to leaving ( I, English student, have made these choices myself so maybe more than one is correct.) In the book "English Grammar In Use", it was mentioned that after a passive we use "to + inf". But in a local 12th grade English book, the answer to a similar question was "inf(without coming after ''to")" !! ( The second book sometimes has mistakes)

Thanks for the question. I must have forgotten to deal with the passive voice in my Verbs of Perception lesson. The correct verb form after a verb of perception in the passive voice is the gerund “leaving.” He was seen leaving the hospital. She was heard bragging about her win. They were noticed hanging around the school. All other forms are wrong.

see Watch Observed Noticed Look at sense I saw him leave. I saw him leaving. I heard him leaving he was sorry. I heard him say he was sorry. I heard him saying he was sorry. I smelled something burning. I felt someone touch my shoulder. I felt someone touching my shoulder. I felt someone standing behind me. I sensed someone touch my face.
