Ailyn is great and delivers, as always. But i must say, the conductor's passion is electrifying! He almost stole the show. He knows when the music needs to pull back a little, and when to let it explode. He seems to own his own interpretation, while giving respect to Verdi's art. Bravo!

@josephweeks4326
2 жыл бұрын
@@stefanodepeppo Then why even entertain her singing this music if life she could be missing this “heft” you speak of? Which is not the case, her vowels are over darkened, swallowed, nasal off and on, the space in the back of her mouth collapses as she descends creating a lopsided effect. She’s simply gorgeous, important to our art form today. But she needs to change her approach to vowel shapes; ie open ones. She’s missing squillo in her sound which would lend itself incredibly helpful when celebrating this style of music in performance.

I LOVE the fact the she sounds and sings exaxtly as a mixture of Alessandra Marc and Cheryl Studer at their prime (their voices are much bigger though). I always liked Ms Perez, but LOVE LOVE LOVE this „I don‘t care, every single phrase, If not every second note I sing needs „Glottisschlag“ and hey, my voice is still intact too, so the right intonation will come most of the time“ attitude of that performance! And the outcome is just fantstic!❤️❤️❤️

In my opinion, she defintely is a light soprano but the true virtues of coloratura are voice agility, and are not shown here.
@maxinecornucci5953

No she is a lyric dramatic by way of the richness in her whole fach, as well as the strength of her chest notes, and she easily soars above chorus in ensembles. Reminds me of Gilda Cruz-Romo.

Beautiful lady with a beautiful voice, but it seems a size too small for this music, and the total lack of a solid chest register does a great disservice to the low-lying passages. Unlike most singers of her generation, her jaw doesn't shake, and she doesn't look like she's chewing the sound.
@flicfan416

It's fine. You can't have everything. I'll trade a more robust lower register for the ease and grace Perez shows in her top.
@pawdaw
2 жыл бұрын
@@flicfan416 I've heard many a soprano struggle with the range required for this - a solid two octaves from middle C to C6. The acid test is the unaccompanied passage in the middle, where Verdi wants long lines of soft singing, ending in a supersoft high Bb. This is lyrico-spinto writing; I would not want to hear a dramatic voice in this work. Churlish to criticise Pérez here - you can clearly see she's struggling with her emotions.
@tristansoars5965

I think the exact opposite about the chest voice, she is indeed one of the very few singers regarding today’s opera who has developed and uses it. Her middle tones have body unlike many of today’s voices and her chiaro scuro is impressive. Listen to her “Estrellita”, you’ll hear it.
