Verdun in WW2 Then and Now Part 1
Verdun is well known for the brutality and horrors of the First World War but as the Allies advanced East in World War 2, it was one of many French towns liberated by General George Patton's US 3rd Army in late August 1944.
In this episode of WW2 Wayfinder, I travel to Verdun and look at the incredible wartime photos taken by LIFE Magazine photographer, Ralph Morse in Verdun during late August and early September 1944.
From M3 Half Tracks, to M10 Tank Destroyers this episode looks at a range of photos from those momentous days of late summer, 1944.
