the classic 2D Marvel vs Capcom 2D are not available on any platform since the Ps3/360 era (versions that were delisted from stores a long time ago, by the way), so this was a big deal!

Mario and luigi was all I wanted. They could've announced no game after that, and I would've been still happy.

I'm here for the whole direct tbh, sure there were a few game I didn't care for but that's almost every direct. Super Mario Party Jamboree is a day one and so is Mario and Luigi, but I'd also give specail shout out to SaGa 2 and Dragon Quest 3. Lots of games I need in September, October and November, but so little time.

I honestly would’ve been fine with just Mario and Luigi, but the Direct had a good mix of surprises sprinkled throughout the entire thing. It was probably one of the most enjoyable Direct’s to watch in a long time, and considering how low most peoples expectations were going in, i’m more than happy

As a Mario fan, these last few years have been truly fantastic for me. In 2021, I started to replay all the Mario & Luigi games (including the two remakes) as well as the first three Paper Mario games because I would've never imagined this revival of the Mario RPGs. I was already the happiest I could ever be after seeing the announcement of the remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Seeing the announcement of Mario & Luigi: Brothership brought me even more happiness, and I hope for that happiness to continue in the years to come.

If this is the final direct for the Switch, then it was a solid direct. 8/10.

Can see where you're coming from, but personally I'd go even higher and say it was Excellent, 9/10 (A- in the American grading system?) considering: - the structure with peak announcements at the start, middle and at the end and apart from few slightly longer segments game after game after game; - the surprises especially at those points from Nintendo along with the ones from third parties throughout the Direct; - all of that considering the Switch 2 announcement is coming in less than a year! Some additional points beyond that: - I feel the pain of DK fans, but at the same time I think getting Returns is the best case scenario because getting a completely new game now would mean not seeing it anytime soon on Switch 2; - still not convinced that Prime 4 will be cross-gen instead of "just" being enhanced by Switch 2, but I have to admit that it's a way more concrete possibility now considering it's coming next year.

5:00 I love Paper Jam. People crap on that one just because of what it wasn’t. I think that video games should be judged for what they are not for what they aren’t. The only thing I didn’t like about Paper Jam was the pacing but then again Dream Team also had pacing issues and that is my favorite game in the series. Glad to hear you like Paper Jam too.

No, people crap on Paper Jam because it's not a good game; For what it is, it's meh at best with solid gameplay combined with an absolutely abysmal plot, wasted potential around every single corner (sometimes straight up used as jokes because fuck you), and quite possibly the most boring version of the Mushroom Kingdom ever made. (And that's saying a lot given the New Soup games are a thing.) It's the worst Mario and Luigi game (Hell, if Starlow wasn't there, you wouldn't even know it was an official Mario and Luigi game; That's a problem) and a complete failure of a crossover, but it's still not a good game on it's own; Not the worst game period by any stretch, but ultimately bland and largely devoid of passion. In a sense, it's disposable.

@@dragonbornexpress5650 I get what you’re saying but to be honest, if they have a lot of Paper Mario characters and a lot of Mario and Luigi characters interacting, it would have fallen into fanfiction territory and I’m not sure if I would have liked that. It would have been relying too much on fanservice. You make some really good arguments but I never minded that. I’m someone who loves games and who has NEVER played a game that I didn’t love and that includes Sticker Star. Yes, I like Sticker Star.

I am a huge Mario Party fan so 110 minis and 7 BORADs, SEVEN, is WILD after having 4 and 5 in previous titles. And it looks like having 1-10 dice rolls, 20c star prices and classic stuff mixed up with what it seems a lot fo new content, i just hope it lets you play with pro controller

You know it's a good direct when a stick in the mud likes me liked it. This could have gone the other way where it was just remakes and Prime 4 was in development hell for even longer and most people would have been happy.
