Great job with you scooter love the black. I was also saddened by the general use of the American word cotter pin and it’s adoption by the uk to describe a spilt pin. All pins that are spilt and pass through a hole to prevent a nut coming loose are ‘split pins’ a cotter pin is totally different. Cotter pins are parallel pins with a taper machined along its length often with a smaller screwed shoulder they are used to hammer into a cross hole on a bearing housing to wedge against a small flat surface on a shaft preventing it from turning. Millions of bicycles across the world have cotter pins to prevent the pedals from slipping on the sprocket shaft, a nut is then screwed on to prevent the cotter pin from coming loose. Great idea using a tie grip to hold the rear brake on allowing the nut to be undone.

I wish I had a Mechanic like You ,You make It look so easy ,thank You ,is It possible to spray the Exhaust?

Thank you for your kind words. Yes you can spray the exhaust. Just make sure it’s heat resistant paint. BBQ paint from your local hardware store should do the trick.

Looks amazing . I want to ask you something because i have the same Viespa model (excuse if my writing in English is not perfect) Can you please tell me if the rear wheel have 2 identical spacers? One next to bearing and one which goes after the wheel..Or the one that goes after the wheel it's a washer not a spacer? I'm asking because when i replaice the tyres the mechanic smashed the spacer next to bearing..because he used a impact gun. And he told me that he used instead as replacement the spacer which is instaled usually after the wheel next to nut... But i think that the one he used it's actually a washer not a spacer ..therefore is not good. Please answer for me..it's very important so i can order the parts i need to do the job correctly.. Thank you.

Are you in Ireland or US? I have a UK ET4, rear wheel is held on with wheel nuts whereas yours is the hub nut? I use playing cards to protect the tyres if I am doing a quick "tarting" of the wheels plus I key the paint first. For a restoration I get the wheels blasted and powdercoated. I realise your project is more of a renovate than restore. You might find the finish will go off and flake in a year or so. With such small wheels you could have taken more time and flatted the clear down for a better finish?

Hi James. I’m in the US so there may be slight variations in the euro vs US models. The playing cards is a nice tip for the next wheel spray job I do. All the best.

@@montmoto Wifey was a bit pissed at me last night! Had a game of cards with visiting fam. "what the feck have you done to my best playing cards!?" Obviously, don't use Wifey's best cards! I sold the ET4 to a Vet who then sprayed it in WW2 drab? Trying to find another project ET4 but they are making good money as the market here is flooded with Chinese offerings!

My ET2 rear wheel wobbles, what could be the problem?
@montmoto
2 жыл бұрын
Hard to say WoWCoreT because it could be so many things. Here are some of the things I’d check. The first thing I would do is check tyre pressure and make sure it’s pumped up properly. After that I check the tyre is in good shape. No bulges or warping. Are they bald? If the tires are good I’d check the rims for dents or cracks. If they look good maybe it’s time to change the bearding on the rear wheel.

About 15ft lbs is what’s recommended but I always do ‘about hand right’ for them.
