Military songs always kind of chokes me up because I am sensitive soul and strong supporter of the armed forces. But it really hit me when he said, "I'm in the fields of Vietnam, the mountains of Afghanistan" because my great grandfather is still, is still, reported as missing in action from the Korean War. My grandmother goes to the service in Washington DC every year to see if he'd been found so she can lay him to rest finally. Mind you my grandmother never met her father because he was deployed before she was born and now over 70 year later, she's still waiting. And I really do fear that she'll pass away before he's ever brought home and she's asked me in recent years if I'd take up her place of going when she gets too weak to travel and that just humbles me. The echos of war really ring through the years and their effects can trickle down through the generations.

When I was little I wanted to join the military, myself... I couldn't - I have an uncorrectable vision problem- but I come from a long line of military men that span at least two continents (dad was first gen American on his mother's side, her brother died in ww2, her dad fought in ww1 - For England). Both of my grandfathers fought in ww2, my dad & my mom's brother both served in Vietnam. Dad in the Army - like his father... uncle was a Marine - like his father. I am a Veteran, my late husband gave 22 years of service to his country and 16 to his community, both my brothers are veterans, my Daddy and my husbands Dad were Veterans of WWII. It is so hard to understand how our world keeps turning, the sun keeps rising and setting as if nothing has happened. The world should just stop and say Thank You!! to every Man, Woman, and Child that have given all they have to give that means so much to them. The Men and Women who have given their lives, or given the lives of an amazing spouse, every Child that has given their parent to our country. Whatever your beliefs or politics does not change the fact these loves were sacrificed and taken from loved ones in defense of you and your families and the freedoms you still enjoy. The lives the service men and women have had to take never leave them. You may think they are heartless killers, they are not. They see those taken lives every night in their dreams, every day when they cant sit with their back to the door or window, every time they see a child with no Father, see a wounded warrior, they see those lives. They see the lives of the men falling around them while they continue to live. May God Bless the survivors and ease their guilt over having taken lives and the guilt of surviving. Billy Thank You for tour service and for doing these reaction videos in honor of Servicemen and Women everywhere.

After MCT i went to SOI both at Camp Gieger NC during SOI i got the opportunity to screen to go Recon and after almost 2 years of training starting with BRC then Jump School then Combatant Diver School i became an 0326 ( Recon man Jump and Combatant Diver Qualified) my first unit was 3rd Force Recon until 1998 when i went to 2nd Force Recon until they disbanded in 2006 at that time i became part of MARSOC in 2nd Raider Battalion as an 0372 CSO (Critical Skills Operator) i served 2 deployments to Iraq and 3 to Afghanistan before retiring in 2015 with an Honorable Discharge after 24 years of service. I want to thank you for what your doing, I've hung with ya thru all these videos unable to hold back tears. I was diagnosed after getting out by the VA with a TBI, Moderate PTSD and Treatment Resistant Depression i can relate to the verse I'm so tired but i can't come home till the last shot's fired. It feels like all the combat I've been in and is still in my head won't go away till i die i guess that would be for me the last shot's fired. God bless, God speed and Semper Fi brother.

I can honestly say the following: I have never met another veteran who regretted joining the military. Being a veteran is a brotherhood (whether man or woman) that we all share even though we have never met in person. When passing by or seeing another veteran, the simple head nod is our thank you. Because when we see someone do it, we know, that we both served and are grateful to each other. Coming from a military family (over 30 of us served from immediate to extended), I’m sure I can speak for us all that it takes a certain person to take the oath and from that day forward there is a certain respect that is given to each other that is only seen in a few other areas (law enforcement and firefighters), or as my family refers to as the big three. Thank you for these reactions, and since I cant give you the nod, thank you.

I'm crying right now! My husband who was a Sargent, highly decorated, was also with the 101st. Airborne, served 3 tours in Vietnam, went to be with Jesus. The flag, they handed me, the 21 gun saute. oh my! When our national anthem plays, take off your hat, STOP kneeling. I miss my "Bill" so much. thank you, Billy and all who served our country. May God bless all of you.

+BillyYouSoCrazy Thank YOU for your service. My father was also in the military (Army) as was my maternal grandfather (Korean War Vet). I tried to get in myself but my dad had a fit as he didn't want me joining. They didn't take me anyhow as I have a heart condition and a thyroid condition.
