Kim is a retired Lt Col and Wounded Warrior who served in the Air Force for 21 years. During her service, Kim completed 2 combat tours in Iraq and 2 year long deployments as the commander of the Force Support Squadrons in the UAE and Qatar. Kim was honorably retired in 2018 after being diagnosed with spinal cancer, likely caused by the burn pit fumes in Iraq. The surgery and subsequent radiation to treat her tumor left Kim with no feeling from her mid chest down and nerve deficits, making it hard to walk and balance… which in turn made outings to busy places difficult. With the help of her mobility service dog she is excited to lead a more active life.
Special thanks to Southwest Airlines who graciously sponsored Kim's flights to and from GDA | TLC.
