Locally resonant metamaterials are a potential compact and lightweight solution for noise and vibration reduction. During his PhD, Lucas Van Belle investigated the influence of damping on the vibro-acoustic performance of locally resonant metamaterials, in view of broadening their performance and bringing them closer to becoming broadly applicable noise and vibration engineering solutions.
