Huge props to Steve mazagatti for letting Matt hamill continue fighting against Jones. We wouldn't have been able to see a comeback like that if not for his excellent reffing. You could argue that it could've been a stoppage for Jones at that point, but mazagatti saw matt's intelligent "shell up" strategy working on frustrating Jon so much that he threw an illegal shot. Greatest comeback of all time from one of the fighters with the best fight iq's of all time

For those who keep saying knees to grounded opponents were made illegal to make it easier for wrestlers, 3:04 this position is called the Gan McGee position. This is how he won the vast majority of his fights as a wrestler. This led to a lot of bloody wins that left fighters with serious long term injuries and is why the knee to a grounded opponents is banned.

Nope. Knees were banned in the UFC for aesthetic reasons, there's no evidence they led to more long term injuries at all.

It’s not the most effective position to secure a RNC because it means giving up control of one shoulder then you lose control of the body, makes it a lot easier for the opponent to flatten out and relieve pressure but that said get someone with a good squeeze you can lock in a rnc from any position without any control really
