Nowadays the TT bikes with those huge big rings aren't exactly for spinning fast, but rather keep a straight chain (in an intermediate sprocket). I reckon Victor will probably be pushing a 58-15/16/17 most of the time

If pro bikes are using larger chainrings to reduce friction, then they'll never go to 1x, since recent studies have shown the additional friction on a 1x system is greater in almost all ratios.

Keith MacDonald wasn’t trying to roast anyone just nice to hear the facts about the setup without the over polarised opinion of loving everything. Have been avoiding videos with job cannings in recently as he is rather annoying however...
@paulsymons562

Cannings does my head in too. His daft overenthusiasm coupled with a pretty poor mechanical ability means he's not really the man for GCN tech. Compare him to Doddy and the new chap on GMBN tech and he looks even more a fool. Those two are really excellent and GCN could do with someone similar who actually knows what they are doing.
@david131092

Paul Symons I agree. I don’t watch GMBN tech but the videos & presenting on the main channel actually trumps GCN & I’m not interested in mountain biking! Dan & Ollie are the only presenters I enjoy watching. The rest just try too hard or are dull af. I guess it takes time but Catherine seemed to pick it up immediately.

82.5 cm is not conform to the uci regulations, right? For morphological reasons it can be 80 cm, and 85 cm for very tall riders (>=190cm). How can that be?
@JeuneCyclisteDynamique
4 жыл бұрын
I was wondering as well, but UCI regulations have you limit the length between bottom bracket and tip of extensions to 75 or 80 cm - 85 cm for taller riders - not the distance between tip of saddle and tip of extensions.

Belgian media during the event said it was closer to 350 than to 400 (so probably about 370W). Wiggins did his at 440W, but then he did have a huge amount more oxygen in the air, but also more drag due to denser air, which Campenaerts did not have.
@albr4
5 жыл бұрын
@@william6171 Campenaert chose to go higher altitude for the less dense air. The body adapts to the reduced oxygen quite quickly. You can see by the smaller wattage that the altitude gave him a huge advantage over wiggins.

so everyone and their mom has a 3d printer and pre-preg carbon is simple to use. why can't a regular joe start creating these molded arm extensions for a fraction of what speed bar charges. these aren't anything new - arm extensions have been out for 10+ years - they're only catching on now as bike technology is slowing down.
