2 days after takedown of my ostomy, I discuss my bowels waking up and the "ups and downs" I went through on this day starting to get used to my Jpouch!
I had the iliostomy takedown one week ago today. I'm actually doing quite well. The first few days after my anus burned from the acidic loose stool. But that's pretty much overwith now. The surgeon left the opening to close naturally. I have to repack it daily with iodine strips for a few weeks until its completely healed. I'm just glad its over.

Had my colostomy takedown on Friday everything he was saying was pretty much my same experience except I was on water right away and I did not need very much pain medicine just tylonal actually but glad to say everything is going smoothly 😊 I was really nervous about having another surgery before this but truly you do not need to worry yourself trust your body and pat yourself on the back for coming this far !!

So jealous you had #3! I am just over 2 weeks out of #2 and I can't wait for #3! Oddly for me, because of the way stoma is set up and because I have some belly pudge - I am passing some liquidy leftovers through my pouch 1 - 2 times a day already. The doctor said it would happen, but its still so odd! Thanks again for posting these videos!

Hi l found your blog really informative, l have my osteomy for two years l have also had a huge hernia on it for two years mine is a double loop. I am scared of the reversal, because the last time l went in for an op two years ago l went into septic shock and ended up with my osteomy. I really look forward to your next blog diane

Hi Diane! THANK YOU for your kind words! I understand the fear of reversal. I was scared as well and I didn't have the "post traumatic stress" you do from your LAST experience with surgery. I'll send you POSITIVE energy that everything goes SWIMMINGLY for you! And hopefully you'll be back to your old self or a NEWER self VERY SOON! :)

Hi Tracy! SO SORRY it's been SIX MONTHS since you wrote to me... :(. I VERY rarely check this email anymore and should probably make a new video stating. As it's been 6 months, I'm SURE you're done with your surgery by now and getting used to the new "normal". 1 week out for me was still a pretty big adjustment. I think I have a video talking about it? I would say it probably took about 1-1.5 yrs for me and "it" to FULLY adjust.

Well I can't say I wasn't terrified as well....LOL! But what choice do we really have, right? I either heard or read this quote somewhere (and I'm paraphrasing)..."Jump off the cliff and build your wings on the way down", that is courage! I hope you're surgery goes VERY WELL! :) And you might be surprised at just how WELL you build your OWN wings! :)

Glad you had the reversal and doing good. Very informative video on youtube. Thanks. Not sure if you check the post on this video but I am being reconsidered for a reversal pending other serious surgeries performed first. You mentioned in your video you had some leakage here and there and wearing depends will help protect. Do you still have leakage or have you gain or have full control of your muscle? (this is one of my fear and the other....when you pass gas it's just gas or does stool come out). (plus how long did the leakage last for ypu to regain muscle strength) I know the questions are out there but there are fears I have when the day comes for the reconnection on what to expect. Anyone else had reversal your answers would be appreciated.
