Hey Lofi and Ben, glad to hear how your M1 does with 1080 on premiere. Lofi, I agree, should do well for basic editing and depending on your edits, if you are using 4K, ,multiple tracks etc, you can edit offline and there are a few other tricks to run everything no problem. If the budget is there, any extra ram will help things go smoother. These M series chips are great for video work. Video editing with the basic M2 + 16 GB RAM is okay even with 4K 10-bit footage. Video rendering with some denoising applied, this is where the problems start and where the basic M2 is barely usable. As for Lightroom and Photoshop, no complaints whatsoever.

Thanks man! Currently looking for a little portable option for video editing than something always at my desk. I just sold my 12.9 inch m1 iPad Pro I was using for editing with lumafusion for the longest time. Worked beautifully. Loved the machine was fast and snappy until I tried to use a transition on the new davinci app. Lag nation even on 1080p timeline but works just fine with other apps. Just tired of waiting for ipad os and apps to catch up to what I need and so I’m searching for an m2 or m1 chipset and I think I’m sold on the M1 Pro MacBook Pro. At that value you really can’t beat it and it can handle anything i throw at it for video editing at least I feel like 16 gb of ram and it being a desktop version that’s properly working I shouldn’t see any hiccups doing intermediate/expert level editing with stacking many layers. I have someone wanting to sell me a 24gb m2 air for 800 and a MacBook Pro M1 Pro 16 inch for 1000 so I think it’s an obvious choice if the 16 inch isn’t a scam cause that’s a good price. I don’t want something that’ll slow down and overheat while I’m working. Especially if it’s a brand new machine or else I’d go back to using my 2013 MacBook Pro and be ok lol

I have been using after effects for about a few months now, but the current laptop I have doesn’t run smoothly. Next week i’m getting a macbook in hopes of it being able to do the things I want it to do. I have a price range of $2000, as a 15 year old that’s a lot of money especially since it’s coming out of my pocket. My question is, is the macbook air m2 better or macbook pro m2? My friend has told me the air is better and googles telling me the pros better, what would you (or anyone with experience with macbooks) have to say? Or what about an IMac? Are those any better than the laptops? I just want something that will work perfectly right now and also in the next year or two.

Hey there Sav, I know the feeling for these big purchases. I am seeing the 14 inch macbook pros coming down in price this weekend and for AE, the more cores and ram you can boost helps a bunch for playback and exports. Sept 7th is the next big apple announcement and we will probably see M2 macbook pros, so the price will come down even more. They could drop many configurations that will be better than both the air and 13”, might want to wait a couple more weeks to see what is brewing. Good luck with your decision, i always add more than i need to give myself some room, and we use these things everyday, gotta like your purchase. Ps: apple has a 15 day return policy, they want you to be happy with your computer also. No shame in trying it out and saying “no thanks, doesnt fit my needs”. If you can hold off for a few days, there is supposed to be some new computers dropped on Monday at WWDC. lol more decisions to add to the mix 🤦♂Hope that helps and thanks so much for watching and the awesome comment! Good luck be art talk!

Hey, I have a really hard decision to make. At the moment, I could get an M1 Pro 14” MBP (Base model) for $1540 (Waited until M2 pro / maxes came out so I could get a deal) and an M2 MBA (8 / 10 core gpu and cpu with 512gb) for $1350. I would love to start content creation to aid in affiliate marketing but I don’t know if it’s worth the extra $190. How has your experience with both laptops been? Thanks so much for reading.

Hey there Oscar, if you are making videos and shooting them on SD cards, might be a good upgrade for the Pro. For me, having the HDMI and SD card reader built in saves me frustration, builds up over the years. The ram goes a long way also with video editing/exports/renders etc, load up if you can. More hard decisions but I would say go Pro! Good luck Oscar, I know it can be an agonizing decision. Thanks for watching and the comment!

Hey there Tom, thanks for checking out the vid! This M2 air would be a good start if you loaded up the ram. Also an older M1 MacBook Pro would be a great editing rig if you can find them on sale these days. Having an sd card slot and extra port helps my video creation over here. If you want to go the AIR route, there is a 15inch rumored to be dropping soon, that would help the eyeballs when editing long hours. Good luck with your choice and thanks for watching and the comment!

Enjoyed the videos, very informative, I have a couple of questions if you could answer in a video, I’m editing videos on an Alienware M17 R3 I believe, the client supplied the laptop, but I want to know the M2 or M1 compares to the I7 I’m not that tech savvy in know specs and what not on the computers

And the videos I’m editing for the client is 4K videos but the computer is very laggy as you said in the video, do you know if I would need to download a different version of Adobe premiere or what could I do, the videos aren’t too crazy I assume I’m not stacking much on top of the footage besides adding some background music and some text here and there, His channel is for KZitem welding tutorials and other welding related content

Hey there Desmadre Ranch, I know how frustrating a glitchy system can be. I don't have much experience with the Alienwares machines, I checked out the specs of it and it could be a bunch of things (video card, memory). These new Apples would have no problem, and you would be loving the fast exports. still blows me away. For simple 4k editing, not much stacking, both would do great. If you have to keep the Alienware for now, maybe try downscaling the footage to 1080p, editing then export it as 4k, might be easier on the system editing that way or there is also "offline editing" but I have never had much luck with that. Good luck over there with the project, hope the machine cooperates with you soon. Thanks for watching and the comment, take care!

does it get really really hot when video editing? I plan on using Final Cut Pro.
@TheFloodLightShow
8 ай бұрын
The AIRs do not have any cooling fans so it does get warm after long exports. Also when it gets hot, the performance is throttled down so the that the whole thing doesn't melt, slows down your exports etc. I would definitely recommend that MacBook Pro these days for any type of video editing. You will appreciate that SD card reader as well. Good luck on your decision!

Hey there Suhail! It is a small screen for vfx but you can definitely do it. I have made so much on the 14 and 13 inch, its not a huge deal for small stuff like lower thirds, titles, etc. Always nice though to put it up on the big screen and give your eyes a break which will help the creating overall. For bigger more intensive projects, a larger monitor is a must. Good luck Suhail and thanks for watching 🤜🤛

M2 Macbook Air should do it fine, right? I'm old school video so I know camera work. (pan, tilt, zoom, back light, sound, shotgun) so will have to learn some software but not afraid of that. Video was very helpful but just want to make sure Mac is right for this job. Need a pro's opinion.

Жыл бұрын
Hey there DKW Gallery, sounds like the Air could definitely handle the types of vids you would like to do, and that M2 will get you those fast exports when its ready to post your classes to youtube. If you have some time to wait, check out the 14 inch Macbook Pros this black friday season. They are coming down in price (saw it at $1600 the other day 🤯) and a much better video making machine with the added SD card reader. Helps out a ton, no more dongles to import footage. Which software are you thinking of editing on? I am using Premiere here. Davinci Resolve is free to download and could get your feet wet, its also great editing software. Hope that helps and thanks so much for the kind words and my first tip, so awesome! Good luck with the decision, talk to you soon

@TheFloodLightShow
Жыл бұрын
Hi Sarah, sorry for the late reply. That’s exciting you’re getting into video editing, now is an excellent time to start. For your MacBook Air, ram plays a big part in nice playback and speedy exports. I think you’ll be just fine starting off on the air, these M2 chips are really amazing. and when you’re ready to step it up in your productions, definitely load up that ram where you can. I have a base model 15 inch MacBook Air coming in next week, and I will be doing some testing for video editing, so maybe check back in, in a week or two to see how those went if you are still on the fence. Hope all is going well, and thanks for watching the video.

If you are doing video stuff, the included SD card reader and extra port is a game changer, no more dongles. If you can wait till Black Friday, that deal will be back again.
